My dad is renting a scooter at Disney when we go. Does he have to watch the parades at a certain spot? Which rides will he be able to stay in his scooter?

There are designated viewing areas for guests on wheels to see parades, but no, he doesn't have to watch from one of them.

can your dad walk on a moving conveyur belt for a few seconds and step onto a moving platform?

if so he wont have to stay in to ride, if he does need to stay into ride, you will need to advise the CM of this at the time, they will transfer you to a manual wheelchair to board a special ride car which can accomodate the chair, only a few rides actually can do this, best thing to do is head to the town hall in MK and pick up a disability accessibility map which advises which of the shows have wheel chair access.

also for parades, on that map it will have a icon for the places with special roped off areas for scooters and chairs however you can watch the parade from anywhere, justy turning up nice and early and grab a spot.

Hi OP! If you check out the "disAbilities FAQ" sticky at the top of this forum, post #11 has information about rides requiring transfers. Read the rest of the sticky as well, it might have other information you'd need to know.

And no, an ECV is not required to watch parades from the reserved areas. In fact, during busy times your party would likely need to split up to do so as they will only allow the ECV user plus 1 other to enter those areas. We prefer to find our own curbside spot early and have a snack break while waiting.

He will not be allowed to stay in his ECV for the rides. Some attractions can accommodate a WC, but none will allow him to stay in his ECV. He will be able to take the ECV all the way to boarding and then transfer. A few attractions will require him to transfer from the ECV to a WC to even get into the line.

Your best bet (as others have said) is to read the FAQs at the top of the disABILITIES board.
