We are going to DL next summer mid July. My father will be traveling with us and I would really like to encourage him to use an ECV to get around as he is elderly and quite overweight. :moped:

My question is are they easily rentable at most parks? Can you reserve them and how much are they? If not where can you easily and cheaply rent one?

We will be staying at a time share (Dolphin's Cove) and going to various parks. Disneyland, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo etc.

Please help :confused3 I want to make sure I have lots of good info for dad before I approach the subject. I don't think he has ever thought about looking into it and I don't want to hurt his feelings but I want us all to have a great time and help him keep up with the grandchildren in the summer heat.

Disneykrazee,

Welcome to the boards! First, I thought you meant California when you mentioned DL (Disneyland) the original park. WDW (Walt Disney World) in Florida we have lots of referrals for. I haven't a clue where scooters are available in California.

So, at the top of the disAbilities board are a couple FYI posts that mention what is available at the parks, etc. I would like to add most of us rent from the off site places and that way he can have it at the hotel and other parks. It is very easy and cost effective that way. You will have to transport it so that is something else to consider. There are planning boards for Universal, Dolphin Cove and other places including DL here so browse around and if you don't see what you need, ask. We love to be helpful.

I have rented from the parks and from off site. I like the more substancial scooters for my, um, above average weight. I just recently purchased my own scooter and it goes up to 450 (above what I need, thank goodness). I hope this is helpful and I am sure you will gets lots of other advice as well.

Again, welcome to the DIS

If you go to www.mousepad.com they have a Forum similar to this one and it concentrates more on DL than WDW. I know there have been recent threads about off-site rentals. I remember that several people (myself included) recommended against Alan's and there have been a few recommendations for Central.

Could you tell me where to look at mousepads??? I didn't see any forums it just appeared to to be a company that sells "mouse" "pads" :confused3
