ECV rental-what counts as a "day"?

Is a damage waiver the same as insurance, or is it different? I specifically remember the woman saying "damage waiver", and as a first time renter, it sounded like I should get it. However, she didn't push it, and in retrospect, since I paid with a credit card, I wonder if somehow my credit card covered it, or maybe my house insurance, since she seemed so "unpushy" about it.

The Damage Waiver is basically like the insurance that car rental places sell; it lets you walk away from the unit if it gets damaged (for example, you drive it off-road and into a pond or lake and it gets water damaged, or it rolls off across the grass and bangs into something). Typically, most rental companies know that the units will get bumped and banged up a little big - BUT if you are delivered a unit with serious damage, make sure that you document it (take pix with your cell phone) and let the company know so that there is no question at return time as to the condition of the unit when you received it.
