ECV Rental Cost?

I've been having back problems for a while now, and I've been really trying to be good about my exercise lately, especially knowing that I'd be walking all over Disney pretty soon. Now I'm a week away, and I'm not sure my back is up for the task just yet. I'm considering renting an ECV (even though it's totally embarassing, especially when you have to ride one when you're over weight. The way people look at you is *almost* enough to suck the magic right out of you ). I rented one about 3 years because I had just had surgery, and I believe the cost was $35 w/ a $75 deposit. Does anybody know if this is still the price?

Sorry I don't have the info you need, but just wanted to say have a wonderful time in the Happiest Place in the World and don't allow anyone to put a damper on your vacation time!

Disney's California Adventure™ park and Disneyland® park: Wheelchair and Electric Convenience Vehicles rentals are available inside the Main Entrance for a fee of $8.00 for Wheelchairs and $35.00 for ECVs. Both require a refundable deposit of $20.00. Downtown Disney® District: Wheelchair rentals are not offered in Downtown Disney® District.

Park rental is $30 / day with a $20 deposit. You can get one for the week (or longer) from Alan's Wheelchairs for $100-$200 depending on your size.(Located about 3 miles North of DL on Harbor. Alan's will deliver to your hotel for a small extra $)

Don't feel self-concious about using a chair or ECV. I really put myself through some serious pain before I chucked my pride and found out there's more for people to look at other than me. I never ran into anyone who was curious how I 'rated' a scooter or wheelchair.

I just purchased my own ECV to travel with for our trip beginning this weekend.

On May 20, 2005 the price for an ECV was $55 and that included the deposit. We rented one for my mom, she has knee problems. Word of advice. If you are going to be parking the ECV for rides, attractions, and such to get a better view of things like Fantasmic, do NOT park your ECV in the Fantasmic area parking. The CM's moved all the strollers around and baracaded the ECV in literally. It took three or four CM's a good 20 minutes to clear a path so we could get it out. We were not watching Fantasmic, I was on Indiana Jones, and forgot to give my mom specific instructions as to where to park the ECV. Getting out of the Fantasmic crowd was a nightmare with it, slower than San Diego freeways during rush hour. We purchased a couple of glow necklaces from the local dollar store before our trip. We each wore one, and I gave away the extra to a little girl who thought the pink one my mom was wearing was cool. If we did it again, I would put an extra one on the ECV to pick out ours in the crowd.

Don't worry about a 'stigma' for using an ECV. I think it used to be looked on skeptically because some folks would use them in order to get to the front of the line (with their entire party) Mainly teens, I think. However, on my recent trips to Disneyland and CAdventure, I've noticed that ECV's go thru the regular queues. So, no preferential treatment, and no sidelong glances on 'why do you need that, are you just trying to get to the front of the line ahead of the rest of us?'.
