ECV rental at Epcot's 2 locations: What to do?

We are planning to park hop. Anyway, I want to rent and pay for a scooter up front at Epcot near Legacy when we first get into the park. I want to exit the park at the the International Gateway by WS. I want to return the scooter at this location.

I'll be going to MGM-Disney Studios after we exit at the International Gateway. We will boat it there. I don't want to go back to the front of the park to return my ECV where I originally paid for it. I do want the transfer slip on the ECV rental for me to go to the Studios and get a scooter over there without paying again for another rental.

I know everything is available on a first come, first serve basis with Disney scooters. I just don't want to be forced to go back to the same rental area where I originally paid for the scooter at Epcot. I want to take advantage of entering and leaving the park by it's two different exits.

Will this work? Would love to hear from someone who has done the same thing.

You can do that with strollers and wheelchairs, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for ECVs. Hopefully someone who has done it will respond.
If you are planning on coming back to Epcot, they may put your name on the ECV so that you can get it when you come back.
