I've been meaning to book an ECV for my DFIL for the past several months. But, I can't seem to make final decisions.

This will be his first experience with an ECV, even though he will be using it to deal with a life-long disability. (In his normal life, he can manage it by not walking too far at a time and not going on long walks on back-to-back days. But, we know from my DW that these accommodations are nearly impossible at disney.)

As I research the rental companies, I find myself leaning towards the ones that will allow me to book a particular ECV so that I will know that I can get him a smaller, maneuverable one. Is this a good approach?

Both Buena Vista Scooter Rentals and Scooterama will allow me to book the Pride Revo (which looks good to me), but their prices are different.

Does anyone have experience with these companies to know whether the price difference is reflective of service?

Is there any reason why I should be looking at a different ECV? (Or, a different company?)

Thanks for your help!

Either of those companies are ones that DIS posters have reported good experiences with, but there have not been a lot of reports for either company. I don't remember anyone posting anything negative about either one.

It looks like the Pride Revo can be used by someone up to 300 pounds, so even if he is Pooh sized, it looks like that would not be a problem.

If you haven't looked at the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is some information about Buena Vista Scooters that Cheshire Figment posted. That company had recently started renting out of the Boardwalk area.

Yes. I've read the FAQs repeatedly, and I appreciate Cheshire checking out BVS.

I found when I called the places that I've heard more people talking about, that either they required someone to be present for dropoff (which is a challenge since we don't have cell phones) or they wouldn't guarantee a specific make/model and I really don't want my DFIL to end up with a large 4-wheeled ECV because that was all that was available on our check-in date.

So, I was hoping I'd find some people with experience with these companies who could give me some advice.

If not, I'll likely just flip a coin.

I just secured a reservation with Scooterama. The main reason I went with them was because we do not have to be there for drop off or pick up. They were also very prompt with returning e-mails. I must have sent at least 6 or 7 e-mails with questions (this is my first time renting off site) and they were quick and courteous with responses. If their customer service continues this way, I can see that I will be very satisfied.

I know that I used an off site ECV and if I ever go again, I think I would do the same. Much easier on me in getting around. Have a great time.
