ECV Newbie

My Mom will need an ecv now to get around the parks.

Will any of these companies deliver an ecv to one of the parks at opening and then pick it up at night at the same park or possibly another park?

She dosen't need it overnight at the resort.

You can call any of them and ask, but I can see a couple of issues with that - being able to meet up with you on both ends of the reservation; security (related to being able to meet you); minimum rental periods. If you're 100% positive she won't need the ECV except in the parks, just arrive as close to opening as possible and rent from Walt Disney World.

I don't know of any that will do that, but you could always call them and ask. They more than likely will tell you to either rent from them for the full time, where they drop it off at your resort on day one and then pick it up at your resort at end of vacation, or to rent from Disney if you only want it during the day.

It would be more cost effective to rent from an outside company and just hang on to the scooter until the end of the trip. There are some you can rent for around $150 for a week.

If she doesn't need it at the resorts (you might be surprised that she does though), she could just leave it in the room when not needed.

Basically the rental companies absorb the delivery charges by renting for a length of stay. If you tried daily rentals the costs would probably be the same as Disney rentals.

And generally transportation between the Resorts and Parks are not a problem. And the ECV does have to be recharged overnight.

Is there a specific transportation problem which will not allow your keeping it overnight?

We are staying at All Stars, and there wouldn't be enough room with the ecv in the room.

Why do you think that? I've stayed at Pop Century several times with an ECV. It fits. You may need to move the table & chairs, or even have maintenance remove them completely, but really, even if you need to put them in the closet/sink area, there's room for everything. I can get an ECV, a mini-refrigerator, and a person all in a Value room.

I'm at AllStar Music now and it's fits perfectly in here. DD arranged it at an angle, if you've stayed at AllStar before it's as though it's blocking you from touching the a/c thermostat.

We have stayed at all the All Stars and Pop Century and always have room for the ECV, no problem.

We stayed at Pop with an ECV, 2 teenagers and DH who is a big guy and me and while it was crowded, it is definitely do able.

When I used to rent ecv's they would often leave them at the luggage areas for pick up. So ask them to store it for you overnight if you think that it is taking up too much space in your room.
