ECV & Fireworks???

Can anyone suggest a good viewing spot for the fireworks for someone with an ECV in their party???

You might want to think about viewing from over by IASW. I believe that IASW is listed as an alternate viewing spot on the maps.

They have roped off viewing areas for guests using an ECV. The "traffic directors" can tell you where to find these areas. If you are watching fantasmic before the fireworks you will find it very hard to reach main street, for fireworks viewing, with the huge crowd exiting RoA area at same time. If I am remembering correct you are only allowed one helper to sit with EVC quest.

I would get husband all settled in and then go with daughter and her best friend (Best friend traveled most vacations with us ---she is just like own daughter-- 22 years later they are still BF) to view fireworks from main street.

I hope this helps a little. Have Disneyland guest relations send you the special booklet for quests with disabilities. This guide is very helpful. It has much of the information concerning attraction boarding; what rides must have the guest transfer to a regular wheel chair and the way to enter the special boarding areas for handicapped. Thinking that a map is included with booklet that shows the special wheelchair viewing areas--I might be thinking of WDW though.

Disney made traveling with a mobility challenged quest sooooooo easy.

Okay, now I am stunned.

I was in the situation last year. ECV due to an injury.

I got the booklet and there's not a word about fireworks mentioned. Called Guest Services and asked, also wrote several times and kept being told: "There is no special seating area for ECV users for fireworks."

We ended up getting Fantasmic Dessert seating and watched them from there.

When I asked a CM on our way there they tried to make me go to the disabled viewing area for Fantasmic near Golden Horseshoe, supposedly my only option.

This is where we always watched them with my fil (and he used an ECV). The crowds were just too intense and with people standing right in front of him, it was tough for him to see. Back by IASW, it was just easier.

There are the special viewing areas, but we wanted all of us (five total) to be able to see them together. So IASW let us do that with less hassle.

Ok I am confused, is there a special viewing area for the disabled for F! and the fireworks? Despite my prayers that I would be able to go scooter free, it doesn't look like that will happen . I was planning on doing the F! Dessert to make sure we would be able to see it. Will they let you just "park" your ECV for the dessert buffet or would be better off just going to the special viewing area? Thanks and sorry if this is hijacking a thread-this really brought up some questions for me.

If you are only doing fireworks then Small world area is a good place for viewing.

We have found that the side walk just past the fire station (near the side door of the emporium)there is a roped off area for viewing the parades. Best part is u are very near the exits. One more thought is during the slower times good viewing is much easier to locate.

I am thinking we moved just a bit for fireworks after watching F!. Thinking the cast member that watches over the section told the wheelchair guests they could remain in area for fireworks viewing. (We were seated in the wheelchair section) That makes me think that you can probably keep seats if you are watching fireworks after F!. Wheelchair reserved area is off to the left side of RoA reserved seating is in middle.

My husband can not even stand by himself now so transferring out of chair is not an option for us). Our next trip is taking grand kids 7 years and 4 years for first visit - with parents help of course. This trip will be a new learning experience for us in some ways.

For the buffet they'll just let you park the ECV in the area, at the entrance. If you get the middle section you will need to walk, they'll guide you though. Go to the area where you registered and take it from there. We were told to go somewhere else last year and of course that didn't work with the scooter.

For fireworks I am as confused as you are.

I did spend about 2 hours on the phone and wrote 15 e-mails to various places and was being told last year that no, there was no special area for wheelchair users or ECV users for fireworks. I have it in writing from four sources. That info is from November 09.

For sure IASW is a very good place to watch the fireworks. For one thing, its not as crowded but if Remember is still the same now as it was when I last saw it (two years ago), they project things onto the exterior of IASW itself. A very cool affect you can only see back there, but again, no idea if they still do that or not (projections).

Projections aside, the view is very good, you do miss out on the castle affects but the tradeoff is far fewer crowds. When we travelled with my fil for many years with his ECV it was the best place for us, the couple of times we tried to see them with him near the castle or on Main Street or over in Frontierland if there was Fantasmic going on, it was a nightmare.

Back there we were able to have his chair back up to the half walls that are in that area and while people stood in the walkways near us, it was nothing like the hub area or Main Street.

On nights when there was not Fantasmic, the area in Frontierland near Rancho and Golden Horshoe was also pretty good, but not as good as IASW.

They do also pipe the music back by IASW so that is nice.

Another plus is that if you wish to take the monorail out of the park, you are nearer to the monorail station.
