Hi Everyone,

I’m renting scooters from gold mobility for my parents on their upcoming trip, and I wanted to order some sort of rain cover for the scooter controls so it won’t get too wet - preferably from Amazon. Does anyone have a recommendation of something they’ve ordered in the past?

Gold mobility usually gives you a few disposable type ponchos and shower caps with the ECV rental. The shower caps work well to keep the tiller dry, just pop it over the controls. The ponchos work well to keep you kinda dry but they also make a good rain cover for the scooter. Put it over the seat and tiller and just makes sure the arm holes aren’t facing up.

That's what I was going to say, too. GM has always given me the ponchos and shower caps, so I've never bought any beforehand. However, if you want to plan on rain every day for a few weeks, I'd suggest you go to Dollar Tree and pick up a 10 pack of plastic shower caps.

I’ve used the ponchos but never thought Of shower caps. That’s a good idea! My DH buys in bulk for proofing bread.

These are great ideas. I knew about the shower cap, but snowwite, great idea with the proofing. I had read someone else using clear bags but then using clips. The drawstring bag is better I think.

A few trips ago, we bought a poncho/cover combo. In picture the poncho came down below the EVC chair. The person had his feet up on the wheel cover and was completely covered. DH put it on, well, his shoulders would be dry. Unless you are 5 ft and 98 pounds, there is no way that would go down that far. So if you see them on amazon, be sure to read the reviews.

We rented from them and there were 2 rain covers in the basket of the scooter when it was delivered.

Just back and yes, Golds still give you 2 tiller covers (shower caps) and 2 ponchos. I still pack a couple of extra ponchos, and some clothes pins to help hold everything on. And we need it all.

I always take a package of clothespins with us. They work great to secure a plastic poncho on an ECV, stroller, or elsewhere
Excellent idea. We've had them blow away.

Also shower caps but, we tend to bring a grocery store plastic bag & tie it over too

My mom and I both had scooters last month and brought with us clear shower curtain liners from the dollar store. We’d wear a poncho that draped o we the seat and use the shower curtain liner over the tiller, our lap, and the basket using beach towel clips to hold everything in place. Everything stored in big ziploc bags and kept in the back pocket of the scooter seat. Worked really well.

The scooter company told me to keep the charging cord in that pocket. Just in case. I've only had to use it once, but it is comforting to have it.

The ziplocks “rain gear” is thin enough it did not interfere with the charger being in the back pocket but then again, we would be fastidious with how we folded everything back up.
