My father is having an ECV reserved from an outside company and they are supposed to be delivering it to the hotel the night before we go to the park. My question is, where do we keep it? Do we have to take it to one of our rooms or do they keep it up at the front desk? We are staying at POFQ, so there are elevators, but I'm not sure how big they are. Can an ECV fit in the elevators? Do I need to make a request for a ground floor room? Just wondering.

HI and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Most ECVs are about 24 inches wide and 40 inches long. All the doorways in the Disney Resorts are 36 inches wide.

You have to charge the battery overnight, which means you have to have the ECV in your room. You do not need first floor as the elevators easily handle a dozen or so people. You may have to move a table to get a good parking space, or park it between one of the beds and the wall so people would have to get in from the aisle between the beds.

The charging unit has two cords, each about six feet long. One between the wall and the charger and the other between the ECV and the charger, so as long as you can park within 12 feet of an outlet there should be no problem.

Are you absolutely sure that POFQ has elevators? It was my understanding that it did not. Of course, I could be misinformed.

I was told by someone at the front desk that they did have elevators at POFQ. POR does not have them from what I've read/heard. I will be requesting a ground floor room when I do my online registration. So, hopefully, it won't make a difference.

I can verify for certain that Port Orleans French Quarter does have elevators in all buildings. All the buildings are 3 floors and building codes at the time required elevators in buildings of over 2 floors.

PART of Port Orleans Riverside doesn't have elevators. The Alligator Bayou area is only 2 floors and was not required to have elevators when it was built.
But, even with that, since it's 2 floors, half of the rooms are on the first floor.

The Mansions area at Port Orleans Riverside does have elevators. Those buildings are 3 stories.

Thanks for clarifying that. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that we don't have to be in a ground floor room.:)

They will deliver the ECV to Bell Services where you can pick it up. The one tricky thing I found about POFQ is that since they have sidewalks which you may need to use if service vehicles are blocking the road, you need to be mindful of where the handicapped ramps are located... a couple of times I had to back up because I couldn't go any further on the sidewalk! :rotfl:

i'm going to have to rent a ecv for my dad when we go in december.. where can you rent from off site?
Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs and other things having to do with mobility in Post #2 of the FAQs.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

thank you for the info!!:flower3: i'm going to be ordering off site to make sure we get one. my husband is nervous if we dont we may have to push him in a wheel chair which would be no fun for anyone.
