Could someone please share their experiences using an ECV and staying at POFQ? How was the transportation? Any information would be appreciated.

POR/POFQ are my two favorite resorts. Everything is accessible at the resorts, and one of the quiet pools at POR has the bump steps where you can "walk your butt" into the pool from an ECV or wheelchair. The food lines are accessible, cashiers, beverage machines. Check-in and Concierge are accessible. The park buses are accessible, you will be loaded from the back door. The water taxi service to DTD is accessible. There is a self-opening door to the front entrance, back main entrance and food court. There is a time or two when one of the doors wasn't working. If you need help getting a lobby door open, anyone going by can be of assistance. Employees and guests are very friendly and helpful.

About your hotel room, you have to discuss with Disney special services people about any special accommodation you will need. I need a roll-in shower. Others don't. I find it helpful to bring a power strip with me because the outlets to charge your ECV can be in inconvenient locations in your room.

Your stay should be as comfortable as any person's stay. Good luck.

My mom uses an ECV down there and we have stayed at POFQ twice with the ECV. She had no problems. POFQ frequently shares buses with PORS, but since POFQ is the first stop (on the way to the parks), she should not have any problem getting on the first bus. Now going to DTD the bus stops first at PORS, so she may or may not have to wait for a second bus, depending on how many ECVs loaded at PORS and how many are waiting at POFQ.

PFQ was wonderful. The buses and bus stop were hardly ever crowded.

I seem to remember needing help to open the food court door, but there may have been another entrance I wasn't aware of.

We managed to fit two ECV's in a standard room by moving the table and stacking the chairs on it. We probably could have just asked them to move the table out, but it didn't occur to us at the time.

Thanks everyone! I have stayed at many other resorts, but this is first time I have been booked at POFQ. I thought the size, one bus stop and first pickup would be great.

We stayed there with a manual wheelchair. I loved that the resort was so small though pushing a manual chair over the cobblestone made it a bit tougher. I'm assuming you'll feel the bumps as you drive over the cobblestone. Most areas you can go on the sidewalks which are smooth so it's only crossing the "streets" where you'd feel the cobblestone, if that's even an issue for you.

We had no problems anywhere at the resort. Everything was easily accessible.

I loved that even when sharing busses with POR (didn't happen often), POFQ was always picked up first. I remember feeling really bad for some people at POR who couldn't get on the bus because the tie down spots were all taken already.

You will have no issues at all at POFQ or POR. They have everything figured out just perfectly!

Enjoy your vacation!!!!! :goodvibes

I've done ecv 3x: 2x from POFQ and from AKL-Kidani 1x. Both were simple since there's just the one bus stop. I liked POFQ even more though since it's such a small resort I didn't feel like I was moving too quickly for those trying to hike out to the pool with me like I did at AKL-K since it was so far away.

I also love the boat at POFQ right to DTD. Just take it slow when you swing around to get off or on. One captain told me i'd know if I backed up too far if I felt a splash, lol. Seriously though, they are really good with you.
