ECV and transportation to various areas

My mom will have an ECV, and I'm concerned about the time/effort to get from one location to another while visiting Disney. I'm not concerned about basic hotel to park trips as those routes are WONDERFUL.

I'm wondering if there are any cab services or other "special request" transportation that may be called (I don't mind paying extra--just don't want to spend hours attempting to get from point A to point B)

The routes I'm concerned about are: from All Star Movie Resort to Fort Wilderness Hoop-Dee-Doo (and then campfire and hayride) and back to All Star Movies.

The other concern is getting from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Grand Floridian (it appeared to be over a one hour trip by taking bus services, and I'd like to get there much faster)

Finally, we would like to do the Animal Kingdom before leaving for our Disney cruise. I did not notice any buses that appeared to have a lift--is this something we can ask for, or does she just need to be picked up in the regular handicapped bus to leave from the hotel rather than being able to spend the morning at AK?

I appreciate any transporation info you may be able to provide.

Deirdre

There are small handicapped accessible vans and buses run by WDW transportation. The situations that you are describing sound like good reasons to request one of those. You can request one by calling 407-WDW-RIDE or asking at Guest Services at your resort. (The number was provided by a very helpful WDW bus driver).
If you would prefer a taxi, Mears Transportation has lift vans. I've also been told that Yellow Cab has them. Most of the taxi/transportation companies either have or will have them to comply with the ADA requirements.

All of the Disney buses are equipped with lifts or in the case of low-floor buses, ramps.

From AK Lodge to Grand Floridian, it shouldn't take an hour. Depending on the time of day, the bus driver might be able to take you directly. Just mention to them that you need to go to the Grand Floridian. In the case that they are unable to, the Monorail is easily accessible, and will take you to the Grand Floridian.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo is a bit tricky, because it requires multiple transfers due to the Internal buses at Fort Wilderness. You can call the number Sue mentioned, 407-WDW-RIDE (or dial 0 from your hotel room and ask for WDW RIDE) and they can help you with alternate plans for the Hoop. Each of the hotel areas do have accessible courtesy vans, and although I cannot promise anything, Im sure they'd be happy to help out, especially in a case like this.

I appreciate both of your responses and am very relieved to know there are several possible options.

Thanks again!
Deirdre

You never know what will happen. I had one night where I was going from Hoop Dee Doo and had stopped and chatted a few minutes with the interpreters so was running after the crowd. I was the only one to get on the bus that goes to the reception outpost and then to TTC. When we got to the reception outpost the driver came back and told me that I would not have to exit and change buses for DTD as he would take me to the All Star.
Direct ride from Hoop Dee Doo to All Star Music by a very sweet driver.
