ECV and Soar'in?

How far can you go through the queue with an ECV on Soar'in, as many times as I have ridden it, I have no recollection of seeing them in the queue, have a bulging disk in my back to deal with, decided that ECV is the only way I will survive, standing in line will be very difficult for me, I don't want to ask for a GAC unless I have to with all the fraud recently reported. Did not get a letter from my doctor but have a copy of my MRI report, any suggestions?

You can take the scooter all the way to the actual ride. CMs will park the scooter just outside as you exit.

My experience was they parked my ecv between the rows of ride vehicles. Or should I say sections...I was in the center section, and they parked it between that one and the one to my left if I was facing the screen.

There's no reason to take a doctor's note or your MRI report. It is a violation of the ADA for Disney to ask for it, and even if you do have it, the CM will most likely not look at it. If you feel you need a GAC, you need to state what your needs are, not your diagnosis. Just be prepared to let the CM know, "I need to avoid stairs, extra time to transfer onto and off rides" or whatever your particular needs are.

Have a great trip!

An ECV is all you need to indicate to the cast members that you can't stand in line. No GAC is necessary. On Soarin' we've parked our "royal carriages" right next to the flight simulator/ride.

Another question, can I go through the queue on the ECV on rides that I don't plan to ride, but want to stay with my family, like Test Track, etc?

In many cases the answer to this would be Yes.
But, in the case of Test Track, this is a tricky one as they have to take your ECV to the unloading siding of the vehicle via a special elevator and I'm not sure if you would be allowed to use that elevator. On that one, I would ask the CM at the entrance but make sure that they clearly understand you will NOT be riding, so they can check with the appropriate persons inside to see if the accommodations can be made when you get to the boarding area.
There are a few other rides such as Splash Mtn in MK where you would encounter a similar situation. Probably your safest bet will be to ask the CM at the entrance and then follow their direction. But there will be quite a few that this will work for...ToT, RnRC in the studios...you will go thru the queue with them, then just take 'the chicken exit' at the last minute. HTH! :)

It must depend on how many ride a scooter at the time as to where they park it. The last time we were there the scooter was parked slightly outside of the exit, but still in an enclosed area going out of the ride. It was crowded with scooters at the time. I would say there was at least 10 scooters at the time.

We have had the scooter parked inside near the ride, too.

Specifically for Soarin'

Usually they will have you park in an area between the rows, but if there are a lot of scooters, it will take to long for people to get back on them and ride out as the next group of guests are coming in. In that case, the CMs may move scooters closer to the exit.

That's really useful info Sue, especially pics. :)

My biggest fear with using ECVs in the parks is ECV accessible lines with their switchbacks etc. I'm not so great at maneuvering in tight corners - I have got stuck in spaces I thought I could turn it, and even scraped one in a shopping mall once trying to make a 90-degree turn in a tight space...

In people's experiences, are the ECV accessible lines really easily accessible (even if you're not the best turner) or am I best to try stash my fold-up wheelchair under my feet and park outside attractions?

It depends on the line. All are going to be at least 3 feet wide.

The only ones I had trouble with were The Seas with Nemo and Buzz Lightyear. And the last time I went to Buzz Lightyear, they weren't allowing ECV's in the regular queue anymore.

That's interesting about the seas w/ Nemo. I was always sent to the exit to board. Hmmmm....

And I was told that 2 (or maybe it was 3) CMs were injured by 'bad' ECV drivers in the queue at Buzz within a matter of 2 months and that is why they have been banned and people must transfer to a WC for that queue. I heard the same story from more than one CM...I just can't recall how many CMs got hurt and filed workers comp! They were pretty significant injuries...enough to need medical care and be out of work for a little bit.

Buzz Lightyear has very little space at the exit where they can park ECVs. If even one is parked there, it can partially block the exit.
