ECV and Rain What to do

I have my own ECV the kind that is light weight and small that folds for travel.
Any how will be leaving Sunday and see that it is going to rain all week I have been going 3 or 4 times a year for mega years and i has never really rained,

What do you do so not to ruin your ECV they do not have covers for the battery area like the ones you rent...

any help would be appricated. thanks

The battery covers that come with a rental are really just shower caps, so you could certainly buy one of those. I have two Disney rain ponchos... I like them because they are extra large and very well made... I use one for myself and one to cover the ECV when I get off. When I am riding in the rain, I simply place the front of my poncho I'm wearing over the front of the scooter and the back over the rear of the scooter... I might look funny riding along, but it keeps everything dry

BTW, I was there during the monsoon last May where it poured all day and all night days and days on end... this system worked just fine and while my feet may have gotten a little wet, both I and the ECV remained dry

I'm not sure what you mean by battery covers - the 'shower cap' type things are used to cover the controls.

Anyway, most people use ponchos.

Also, be aware that you might lose traction if it's quite wet. That is especially true when going up or down hills. Just allow extra stopping room.

I know that you don't have time to get them for this trip, but they make covers for the tiller that you can put your hands into and stay dry. Do a search online and get one for later. They were around $20 or less. They work well. Kept my scooter fine in those May monsoons.

The best thing to do is cover the head unit or controls with a poncho and head for shelter to wait out the worst of the rain. There isn't a scooter made, no matter what brand, that is water proof. The controls are the most likely area to be affected by rain but getting the motor and or computer wet will cause damage too. Basically any component that is electrical on the scooter is vulnerable so care should be taken not to get it drenched. If it does become so wet as to stop running then turn it off before something shorts out and does permanent damage. They can take days or even weeks to dry out or worse yet will have to be disassembled and cleaned before it will run again.
