We have lost CBS and Nickelodian. Viacom the parent company has raised their prices four times the rate of inflation so Dish has had to cancel them. This only affects 15% of the country, but that adds up to a lot of lost revenue from advertisers. Hasn't Viacom thought about this?

Any other Disers affected?

I was affected by this and I called Dish Network and asked how we were going to be compensated for all the channels that were gone and he told me there would be ONE channel added WAM and $1.00 per month would be taken off the monthy charge.
ONE channel for all the channels that were taken just does not seem fair. I don't know how other people feel but I think this is ridiculous.

one whole dollar a month and a channel we never heard of. No it doesn't seem fair. But I still blame Viacom.

This was posted on another board I visited this evening:

I have a friend who's hubby is a manager at Echostar, and she said that Viacom is trying to force Dish to commit to channels that aren't even in existence yet. I am NOT a fan of echostar/DISH but was suprised to hear the other side of the story. She said it is like blackmail, but everyone is only hearing the other side since we all love to hate the sattelite companies anyhow.

I love my Dish network. I have never had better service. My cable provider gave no service at all. I will still keep my satellite company over cable anyday.

I hope they resolve this. My DD was so upset that there was no Nickelodeon. My mom is upset that she can see Survivor on CBS. I told her to use her regular tv to watch, but for some reason, the reception for CBS is terrible in my house. I have been researching DirecTV and digital cable, so if this keeps up for more than a week, I probably will be switching. We NY'rs went through this sort of thing before with Dish with the whole YES Network drama. DH cannot watch his Yankee games at all. Charlie Ergin doesn't seem to care about his customers too much. His opinion is, if you don't like it, go ahead and go to another carrier.

My DH seems ready to "ride out the storm" and figures this will be resolved eventually and we will get our channels back, but I am the one home during the day with no Nick Jr.! And we are scrambling to figure out how we are going to watch Survivor tomorrow night!! As much as I have loved Dish Network over the past 6 years, I am ready to jump ship and head to another satellite provider. Biggest problem is that we just got another PVR for upstairs and I hate to lose the $$!! Have Viacom or Dish given any thought to the advertisers here? They are losing a ton of "eyes" every day that this goes on. If I were an advertiser on Nick I would push Viacom to settle this quickly. Meanwhile, Disney and PBS must be seeing an increase in the kids viewing during the day...................P

We have Dish Network and we dont pay to get our local channels, just turn off your reciever and watch TV as you would with no satellite.
