EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

I don't drink much but took a few bottles of amaretto with last year. I had 2 drinks in 10 days. May beat that this year and plan on taking much less.

yeah don't drink a huge amount being part Scottish I do have a wee dram every now and then ... and a beer now and then ... a special meal will drink white wine ...

last time I did it I did the beer package honestly I hated it .. the idea of having to carry the bottles with me seems so unclassy though I do like the idea of the beer glass they offer

I like the beer glass idea for DH, but he doesn't drink much either. I think I want it more for the glass!

He will be celebrating his 40th on board and thought about getting it as a gift, but I am not sure he would use it. I will have to see how I feel closer to the time before I decide.

Tony makes good use of the beer glass on the ship and if we have any get-togethers at home. He says it is a good deal. :thumbsup2

Hello I'm Luke and I'm going to be 11 on the cruise. Maybe me and your sons could meet up! :-)

Time travellers and Cruisers Alike,

Does anyone know when we shall be losing the hours of sleep during this trip, is it four or five hours. Last year this was a big negative on the EBTA as I didn't enjoy the getting up early and don't wear a watch either.

I WONDER HOW THOSE PARTY ANIMALS (lol) from the WBTA's will manage losing time instead of gaining hours.

The time difference between Florida and Barcelona is 6 hours.

I have just looked through last years navigators and if they follow the same pattern then we put our clocks forward 1hr each night we retire to bed on the following nights...

End of day after Castaway Cay
E.O.D 1st sea day
E.O.D 2nd sea day
E.O.D 4th sea day
E.O.D 5th sea day
E.O.D Funchal

That is what I think. I cannot sea a reason why they would do it any different this year. So for us heading back to the UK it should work out just fine.

Though I am not a party animal I will find the loss of the hours hard. Gaining them is great in the Westbound and I always said I wouldn't do this direction. On Cunard they change the clocks at just after 12 midday, after the Captain/Navigator's announcement. It becomes just after 1pm. By far the best way we think though you do still feel it by the end of the cruise because the 'jet lag' kicks in. It is also better for the crew as they still get their full night's sleep, whatever length that happens to be. I imagine it to be very hard for the crew who lose the night time hour so I will be extra nice to them. Not that I am ever anything but, but you know what I mean.

Oh and it should be 6 hours with going to Barcelona!!!:scared1: Still easier than losing the hours all at once on an overnight flight though.

I think I will just go to bed at the normal time .... ie when I feel tired, and then just wake up naturally on those times when the time changes. If I end up having a late brekky or even missing brekky then so be it, it's not like I will suffer for the lack of food :rotfl2:

I agree .... losing the time gradually over the 13 nights shouldn't affect us as much as 6 hours in one go, which affects me for weeks. :crazy2:

Not So ( Totally Angelic )

I think you right Sarah if you go to bed at 10pm every night you won't really notice the time change, that said you promised me that you would be a party girl on the upcoming cruise. I suppose will just have to take Tony (Sarah husband and ex Salty Sea Dog Naval type) on some pub crawls instead.

I may not go to bed so early, I might just rot in bed in the mornings if need be. I hope to have a wee bit more stamina in May, but I have always been a bit of a light weight compared to the rest of the gang. I would hate to let the side down by being a party pooper every night :guilty::guilty:

Got back from WDW on Sunday, and got a nice note in my e-mail: "It's almost time to reserve your Disney Cruise Activities!"

:woohoo:

Another sign it is getting close!

Does anyone know when they do the Castaway Club and the DVC receptions on the trans-Atlantic cruises?

I want to book a Palo brunch, but don't want to miss the receptions.

Roll up ... Roll up! Who's in for the alcohol tastings?

Originally the possible sessions proposed were Martini, Mixology and Tequila/Margarita. I am awaiting information on actual cost/options from DCL, previous prices have been approx $15 per person.

As I understand it we need at least 20 participants to make each session possible, times/dates will be finalised within the 30 day window when DCL will confirm the possibilities for us.

Everyone needs to resubmit their information! Please register interest by private message either here or on Facebook stating which session you would be interest in, providing the names of participants, stateroom numbers and Dis name.
