Also happy to add newcomers to our FE list

My favorite on a 14 day cruise is to have room service deliver me cookies and iced tea in the laundry room when I am doing the clothes on a middle sea night.
I live in the mountains and deer are a fact of life, but the worst I've ever experienced is one brushing my car (not a direct hit). It's always scary when they run out in front of you. We also have turkeys that will fly across the road...that's pretty darn frightening, too!
Maybe we should plan a laundry meet!
Congratulations - on both the anniversary and the LBD!Morning Cruisers,
Today my DH and I celebrate our 24th Wedding Anniversary - this cruise is our gift - hoping to do Hawaii next year for the 25th!
Our oldest DD turns 23 tomorrow - boy does that make me feel old!!
Went shopping yesterday and bought a black dress for formal and semi-formal nights. It was exactly what I was looking for, so I'm happy
Need to buy DH 2 dress shirts and ties - but man they are expensive(so glad he doesn't dress like that for work). I'm trying to match DD's dress and the color is proving to be very hard to match.
Have a "Wonder"ful day!
Tammy
I wish I had the problem - I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the beginning of the month and the doctor told me I have to lose weight - lost 6 pounds so far and hoping for a total of 20 by cruise time. My "little" black dress isn't really little, but hoping that it is a little loser on the cruise.
Any weight loss tips you'd like to share?
Tammy
Happy Anniversary!
My DS (only child) is 37, so don't feel old LOL!!!
I thought I was going to have to buy some things for formal and semi-formal wear, but I've lost enough weight that my lovely "little black dress" fits again, as does the very nice formal suit that I wore for my niece's wedding some years ago. Instead, I spent the money on lots of new things to wear the rest of the time on the cruise, because most of my cruise wear is too large. Now if only I can figure out how to get my things into one suitcase, I'll be in great shape!

Thanks for the info regarding SAS from port of Miami to Fort Lauderdale airport. Have booked the shuttle as well.
Now...for people staying at DLR prior to the cruise how are you getting to the port? Are you using Disney shuttle or have set up your own transportation?
I think that that is the last thing other than packing that I have to do....I hope!!
No bears? I have been lucky enough to avoid deer but haven't had much luck with bears. I hit one on 940 near Blakeslee and another coming up the mountain to Mountaintop from Wilkes-Barre on 309.

We've been lucky with bears, too....other than an occasional bird feeder or trash can being destroyed, no close calls
. I'd like to keep it that way! I don't know if your sister told you about it, but there is a family of bears around Montage; they keep invading WNEPs back yard (happened this summer while Kurt Aaron was on-air. It was hysterical...to quote him, "I ran like I stole something"
).
I think nametags are a great idea, since we'll never be able to identify other Dissers without them. On our other DCL cruises, someone has always volunteered to design/make/bring them to our meet, but I realize this is a major undertaking for someone far more techie/creative than me. Previous cruises, the Dis group has arranged lanyards for everyone, but I don't think this is really necessary; new cruisers can easily pick up a lanyard. Other thoughts?Just trying to remember if any of these things have been finalized.
1) Did anyone decide on a time/date/place for the Disneyland meet?
2) I know there was some mention of name tags at one point. Has anything been decided/anyone volenteer/any interest? I know the plastic case DCL gives castaway members with the lanyard is 4"x3". we could always design a nametag that will fit right into the KTTW holder. Just a thought.
3) At one point there was talk on the facebook page of a homework meet for the kids. Was a time/place/date ever decided?
Thanks!
Kristen is in college now...gosh, I feel old! Don't know them personally, but I've always liked Tom. I hope he's as decent off-air as his image suggests (I've never heard anything different). I had to laugh at the image of a bear stealing the sleeping bag. Stupid, yes, but I suppose kids will be kidsMy sister didn't mention it to me but I actually saw it on the Colbert report. Pretty funny, newcasting bears! I was just excited to see a picture of Tom Clark on the show. Tom and Noreen's daughter, Kristen was in my girl scout troop.

The camp where I worked has between 3 to 4 bears that cover the area (camp backs up to Hickory Run State park) so bear sightings are quite normal, espcially after cook-out night! I have spotted bears hundreds of times and have a few great pictures.
I was sitting with my boss during a layover in CLT a few ago, I was starting at my laptop and she was watching the TV which had the news, and she said to me, hey that camp you worked at was called Mosey Wood, right? and I was like, yes, why and she responded with, your camp is on foxnews right now. Turns out a camper had hid candy in the bottom of her sleeping bag (a big no no!) and a bear walked into her tent and took her sleeping bag right off of her and it made the national news and gave horrible publicity to a great camp because one camper decided not to follow the rules.
Seems no matter what, a few people will always ruin a good thing for other people.
Congratulations - on both the anniversary and the LBD!
The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was the best thing that ever happened to me - the wake up call to take CARE of me while still alive. I started testing 6 times a day. Eliminated the things that 'shot' my sugar - white potatos, bread, rice, pasta, corn. Eventually went low carb completely and now have given up most all wheat as well (feel better WAY better). Lost 55 pounds. Lowered A1C from 7.9 to 5.8. Off all meds but allergy & water pill. You CAN do it, too!
If you're going to make a high carb dish like chili or other dried bean dish, stuff it with low carb veggies like celery, zuccini, cauliflower - to lower the carb count per cup - then portion control.
I make Pizza on portobello mushroom halves instead of crust.
(My kid is 45)

I am all for a homework meet for the kids. From the responses, most kids were not going to have homework so that's good for them. I emailed my dd's teacher and she told me that her work is due the day she gets back or the work assigned with be marked incomplete. I've done these independent study contracts with my dd before. I'm the big bully for making her do her work. She fights it and it is such an effort and emotionally draining that if we don't have a homework club , I might just let it pile up and have dad help her with it when we get back! Although the key may be to not try to get it done in the stateroom. Last year on the Dream, we went and sat in the Pink bar in the morning and she got it done without having a melt down over it.

We'll be there for ANY homework help we can find!
Seriously??? Where the heck have I been? Actually, now that you mention it, I knew that....Tom talks about her occasionally....just one of my refuse-to-admit-time-is-passing moments! Wait, you'll get old someday, tooTo make you feel really old, she graduated college in 2007! She is an on air meterologist in Minnesota. The Clark's are a wonderful couple and even more decent tham his on-air image suggests. I only have great things to say about their family.

As far as weight loss goes...
I walk 4 miles every day as part of my commute to work. It's actually four one-mile segments, two each way, with a five minute train trip in the middle. When I started, each segment took me over 20 minutes. Now when the train is late, like today, I can make it in seven minutes!!!
I drink gallons of water. I love water, and it keeps me from eating when I'm not really hungry but want something to do. I also take a nap every afternoon when I get home. How does that help with weight control? That's easy--if I don't take a nap, I eat. Things like cheese and crackers, cake, cookies, etc. If I'm napping I can't do that! If I do snack now, it's carrots or other fresh veggies, which I love!
I also gave up stress and worry. If I can't fix it, then worrying about it and stressing over it will only add pounds and not answers. That was the hardest part of my "lifestyle change". If I can fix whatever, I'll do it. If not, I just have to let it go and deal with the consequences. All stress does is make me crazy!
My little black dress isn't all that little, but it is four sizes smaller than the outfit I wore for formal night on my cruise last November. I'm happy. I weight five pounds less than I did the day I graduated from high school and am back in the same dress size. I'm not small but any means, but I'm where I need to be.
