EBPC December 9, 2012!!! Who's in????

This would also be a great time to distribute the PC Certificates. Let's definitely plan on a meet-n-greet on embarkation day.
Our last two have been at 3pm, but there were some conflicts (spa giveaway, for example)...maybe 3:30 or 4 would be better :confused3. Most people just pick up their lanyards/name tags and any other "special stuff" (like certificates, pins, or updated FE info, cabin assignments...whatever), say hello to each other, maybe have a drink, and leave. It doesn't have to be lengthy...too much else to do!

Isn't the muster drill usually at 4pm? That might be why people are doing them at 3pm. I'm guessing there's always going to be some conflict since people will be running around trying to get appointments made/changed and signed up for things.

But I (we?) promise not think anyone is being anti-social if you have to just run by, grab your things, and be on your way. Or even if you just have to send one member of your party to collect things. I'm sure we'll all end up meeting each other after 14 days anyway. :goodvibes

I am working on a "surprise" for those attending the OE and am requesting folks PM me their cabin #. If you are on the FE list, you do not need to message me as I already have your cabin info from the wonderful FE list Dthogue has put together.

I got our ornaments today. I hope I remember in December when I start to pack where I put them!

My daughter has signed up for Hulu and we searched for programs on the Panama Canal. We found Super Structures Panal Canal. It was pretty good. It appeared to be a little dated but the history part was great. Sherry

We have an IGT and have not been assigned a stateroom. Will need to PM you when we get our room. Thanks so much for organizing this.

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers,
We set sail in 21 weeks,
that is 147 sleeps!
Did you know?
More than 60 million pounds of dynamite was used to excavate and construct the canal.

Happy Sunday!

Thank you Linda and Tammy. I have done some research and pulled out a fact for every week until we leave. I know many people are reading books about the canal, but some of us only have time to read a little at a time.

Perfect way to start out a Sunday...a smile on my face! I don't think I have been more excited about a cruise! :cheer2:

Tammy, I like your suggestion about the FE - cut off October 9 and decide then if we need to split the list in two with some people deciding they want to be on both lists.

Thanks for the Canal facts! I haven't even had time to look for a book to read yet...

:wave2: Fish Extender Exchange UPDATE :wave2:

.....What I propose is to make the cutoff date to join the exchange October 9th. Which is 2 months before sailing. At that point, a decision will be made if we will spilt into groups smaller groups. If a spilt is made you will be asked if you want to gift to everyone (be on both lists) or if you want to be on only one list. Unless we get a extraordinary amount of participants, the list will be divided in half, based strictly on numbers. The logistics of doing it any earlier are too much :crazy2:

Sounds like a great plan, Tammy! :thumbsup2 Thanks for volunteering to organize our FE. I'm looking forward to participating in my first FE!:)

I missed the DIS meet on the MR crusie because it occurred during the muster drill at 4ish.

Perhaps we can set up an "unofficial" meeting place & time inside the cruise terminal to pass the time before we board the ship. On the MR cruise, jsails (spelling?) told us how to ID her so we could all receive identical lanyards which made it easier to spot fellow DISboarders.

Does anyone know if there is a LAX hotel that you can get DCL transfers from? We are flying in early and I was thinking of using a hotel with free shuttle but I would prefer not to have to go back to the airport.
Thanks!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Silly, silly me, forgetting the muster drill. Yep, that would take priority, wouldn't it? ;) Unless we want the captain leaving us a "love note". So, how about 3pm in the Promenade lounge? (is that what it's called on the Wonder? I should know this). On our last cruise, we did just what you suggested...we split up and covered all bases.

Thanks for the Cliff Notes version...fun and very helpful :thumbsup2

Went to the Disney outlet yesterday and only picked up an insulated cup. I so wish I had a little one to buy for!

I can tell you what I was told, but I recommend calling DCL and/or your TA and making sure this is correct....

Of course they offer transfers from LAX and their Disneyland hotels. They do also offer a "transfer" from the LAX Marriott. However, it does involve shuttling back to the airport. They have just worked out a shuttle with Marriott to make it more streamlined.

So, you would fly in, take the shuttle to the Marriott, spend the night, then hand over your luggage and shuttle back to LAX and then meet up with the Disney bus. At least, that is how it was explained to me.

We opted to just take a car service directly to San Pedro and stay at the Crown Plaza. There is more to do in the area than at any LAX hotel. There is a little trolley that runs up and down the waterfront, and a place with shops and restaurants and a big fountain show like at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

I have booked the LAX Marriott, but I have been thinking about switching over to the San Pedro Double Tree or Crown Plaza. I read some Trip Advisors opinions and there are varying comments. Any recommendations of the Double Tree over the Crown Plaza? Take a taxi from the airport or use the Red Shuttle Service as part of a pkg. from Double Tree. We do not land until 2:00PM (which will feel like 5PM), if that makes a difference. Thought we would have dinner, and search out a liquor store.

We stayed at the LAX Marriott last December before our MR cruise. We were told we would have to take a shuttle back to the airport for our transfers to the port but the bus took us directly to the port from the hotel. Our bags were also transported for us. We got to port early enough to watch the entire boarding process. We always have used Disney transport but at wdw always arrived in the afternoon and missed the crowds at the terminal. It was nice getting there early. We are going to do this again but plan to arrive an extra day early as weather at our end can be iffy in December and don't want to chance a weather delay for such a special vacation. :)

I arrive Friday and have planned on using the Karmel Shuttle to get to the Doubletree. The hotel has a free shuttle to the port. I'll have to
check out your package.

The Crown plaza is closer to the trolley along the waterfront, but further from the Marina and aquarium than the Doubletree.

Neither one offers free internet.
