I know there are a bunch of folks who e-bay so I am hoping for some advice.

I purchased a dicken's village house:

description was:

Dickens' Village, Department 56 collectible "Fezziwig's Warehouse" in MINT CONDITION. This piece was first made in 1986 and retired in 1995. This piece is from a private collector and in its original box (slightly worn due to storage). Only removed from box to take the picture. Measures 7" high X 4.5" wide.

When I rec'd the item it did not have a light and cord with it. I believe that all Dicken's houses have them and I have looked at other auctions to confirm that this particular building would normally have a light and cord. I noticed that other auctions do specifically list the light but this one does not. I have e-mailed the seller and will see what she says. My question is: Do you think I am right to assume that "mint condition" would include all items originally in the box including a light and cord?

Thank You.

Lisa

I think you are right to expect it if it shows a picture of the light and cord on the box, or states somewhere on the box that it has a light and cord. You might also have an argument if the original item was sold with a light and cord, and you can prove this in some way. If it's missing a part, it's not mint. Good luck! :D

I agree that this should have been included. It may have just been an oversight if the seller is disposing of a personal collection. We always store our lights separate from the houses. By all means inquire.

If you don't resolve it, the lights can be purchased for a fairly reasonable price. I've grabbed a few sets after Christmas when they are 50% off. The lights don't have to be Dept 56. Any brand should work. I think you can even get lights where multiple bulbs go to one plug. Definitely a plus.

Good luck.

thanks, I will see what she says. Not going to make a big deal of it, I will wait and see. I won't make a big deal about it. I noticed that someone sold just a light and cord on e-bay recently and it went for 99cents so I will keep my eyes out for one or pick one up next Christmas.

I'm a fanatical D56 collector (Snow Village). All their buildings come with a light cord and a bulb. If it wasn't in the box, then the item was not sold as described. I would definitely write to the seller and inquire about it, as it should have been included. It may very well be that it was a mistake and the seller is wondering why they have an extra light cord sitting around. It would not hurt to ask.
