okay this was probably addressed but need to know, how does everyone feel ablout buying something on ebay?. i want to buy a prom dress and i never bought anything on ebay before...the dress is made to your size its not a used dress. has anyone bought something like that on ebay, whats your opinions....

I have bought many things on Ebay and have never had a problem. I always try to use sellers with a high rating.

I've had good experiences on eBay and would recommend them to anyone. You do need to be vigilant though and do your homework on the seller before bidding. Another bit of advice, if you can't afford to lose the money, do not bid. Chances are, you've got a reputable seller, but that's not always the case.

I've bought and sold many things (including clothes) on ebay without any problems. But, I'm always careful to only bid from people who have high feedback ratings!

It's about the same as buying from a garage sale, but you don't get to look the seller in the eye to judge whether they're on-the-level, but by the same token you don't actually have to spend the time driving from garage sale to garage sale to find the item you want.

Well, I admit that I don't go to many yard sales, but the few that I have been to have never had brand new DVDs and video games. Perhaps I should start shopping in your area?

I have bought a lot from ebay and you are taking your chances. like someone said don't bid what you can't afford to lose. I have experienced even some sellers with high ratings that cheated me. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose.

I am a regular seller on ebay - I would say make sure that you check out the sellers ratings, and even if they have a lot of positive I would check out what they have sold - some times people sell a lot of small insignificant items to get their ratings up.

Like others have said if you aren't sure and can't afford to lose the money then I wouldn't bid.
Good luck

I agree that selling new product is a perversion of the venue that eBay is. However, I have seen a lot of flea markets that have folks selling new product.

Southwest Florida (where I live) is the Flea Market capital of the world! (At least it seems like it) And, there are always vendors selling brand new furniture, appliances, electronics, and other little stuff.

I agree, new stuff on Ebay is definitely a perversion! But, companies are taking advantage of this new venue and making tons of money!

The operative words being "taking advantage" -- in some cases not in the way that some buyers would want. Just like at a flea market or garage sale. Be sure to protect yourself buy shopping wisely.
