Ebay your way to Disney

Thanks Debbie - now I just have to get my items together & start clicking away! Hopefully next week when school starts again.

I have been doing alot of research to sell on Ebay. I just want to start w/ one or two items (VHS camcorder) and a brand new Nascar mirror/picture. I do have one question though, I understand that there is a "fee" regardless if the item sells, and another fee if it does sell, but is there a "monthly fee" just to have an ebay sellers account? Or if I don't have any items listed would I not have any fee due? I have not been able to find clear info on this. Thanks alot.

There are no monthly fees (PLEASE don't give eBay that idea - LOL!! ;) ), and the only time there are fees is when you list items, and again when they sell....

Good luck with your eBaying!! :p

No, there is no monthly fee, you'll only be charged listing fees for items you list and then a final value fee based on the price the item sold for. Listing fees can vary depending on the starting price, whether you have a reserve price and any "bells and whistles" you choose to add. Details on all this can be found on Ebay's web site. Just go to their website and click on "sell" listed on the bar at the top and they have tons of information to explain it all.

Plummer925/Peachgirl-- Thank you for your info, I was just wanted to make sure I didnt have to pay anything to maintain a seller account, but you cleared this up for me. I have read all the information on the ebay website. I think I will get up the nerve to list today!! I hope someone will buy from me - as I only have buyer feedback. Thanks again!!!

Wow! Thanks for all the great advice! I've been waiting to start in the fall since the summer seems to be slow everywhere. Hopefully some of these tips will get me going! Only problem is I also start back to work in September, so time will be limited!:):D:)

I've been selling some items and have just bought a digital camera, so hope to clear out the house! My problem is once I get on Ebay, I can find too many things to buy - lots of Disney stuff.

Kimkimba - your post office is open at night and on Sundays??? I live in Connecticut and I don't think there's a p.o. in the state that does this. That's the most difficult part of selling - getting to the p.o. when you work full days. Does anyone in any other state have a p.o. that's open late hours and Sundays?

Salandjeff;

I'm in a similar situation. I'm an ebay/half.com seller and I live in Maine - VERY difficult to get to the post office!!

I talked with my post master about it. He allows me to put my packages on/in my mailbox (I buy large quantities of stamps and use them on the packages - stamps come in all sorts of denominations - $3.85 for Priority, $1.00, $2.00, etc etc) - The postal "rules" and regulations is nothing over 16 ounces is to be mailed from mailboxes (must be HANDED to the mail carrier or post master - nothing over 5 lbs can be handed to the mail carrier). BUT...since I spoke with my postmaster about it, they KNOW I'm mailing eBay stuff and not bad stuff like bombs, drugs, etc...so they allow me to mail from home....

If you live in a small town like I do, it doesn't hurt to ask!! ;)

Good Luck!!!

I'm in MI -- here in our city we have a 24-hour post office. It's *very* busy unless you go really late at night or first thing in the a.m. (like before 7). The two post offices I use most often are a little one in our local hardware store and one at a local mall. The one at the mall is open 7 days a week and on weeknights they don't close 'til 7 p.m. I'm surprised there aren't more of these around.

Cindala,

Just because you won't START listing until September doesn't mean you can't do all the "legwork" first.

Take pictures, write listing descriptions, etc. and save on a floppy disk. Do a few at a time. Then cut & paste your decriptions when actually listing.

Now if only I can take my own advice... By the time the kids are asleep, I'm ready for bed myself!!

My dh complains that my starting to ebay was suppose to clear out our clutter, NOT increase it!!! :o Our den is piled with books and other items collected from other parts of our home in PREPARATION of ebaying!!

Good luck!

That's great advice about getting the listings ready! I'm going to do that! And my front room is all piled with things I'm selling, too. *Eventually* it will get cleared out! ;)
