Ebay Your Way To Disney! A new question & thread!?!

I have got a problem and a question that I thought would be a good topic for a new thread.

Ebay has help me come up spending money on my last 2 trips to DW. Now after many years of selling on line, I'm running out of thing to sell!! We are have a yard sell this weekend and some of the things a dont sell there will go on Ebay, but after that, there will be not to much more.

So I need (and I know others do too) some new ideas on finding things to sell. I know I can scout out yard sells and second hand stores, but there are so many people doing that right now. Right now, I'm looking into arts & crafts stuff I can do and sell online (I was a art major at one time )

So heres my question to all:

What do ya do when you run out of stuff to sell?

um, go to the neighbor's garage and look for things??

We are constantly buying things so we always have discarded things...books, clothes, etc.

I don't buy things.. I acquire things.. garage sales, parents basement, neighborhood exchange, even the library..

The library was throwing out textbooks, old sport magazines, and other stuff... MINE BABY!

And no, I have not been beyond curbside shopping as well.

Keep your eye out for very specific types of stuff. Like souveniers or mementos of places and events. This stuff will often sell for less than $1 at a yard sale, and with the nationwide exposure ebay provides, you can find a market for this unique stuff.

Also look at seasonal things. How about hand-me-downs from family? I have boxes & boxes of Christmas decorations that I haven't used, as I've acquired my own family favorites. I definately plan to list the extras come November.

Old Halloween costumes? Anything wearable that is clean and in good repair has a chance - and clothes that might not sell any other time of year may be marketable as a component of a Halloweeen costume. Get these things ready for mid-September!

Know anyone who is a pack rat? Offer to clean out their junk for them.. And I mean everything - even papers in files! You never know what treasure you may come across..

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings...ask what they have that they don't want..

"Curbside shopping" when kids are moving out of college dorms.. You would be AMAZED what they don't want to "bother" dragging home..

Every book sale in town - go on the $1 a bag day.. Think in terms of "lots" of specific areas - mysteries, romance, etc.

Thrift stores and RUMMAGE sales.. Lots of old folks donate very old (ie: eBay valuable) items to rummage sales and thrift shops..

Garage sale, garage sale, garage sale... NEVER pass one up - and don't turn your nose up at the "why-on-earth-would-anyone-want-that" stuff.. That's EXACTLY what buyers on eBay want!!

Go BACK to the garage sales near closing time - LOTS of freebies that will sell well..

Clearance sales - end-of-season and after holiday sales..

There's "stuff" everywhere!!!!!!

Right now, I'm looking into arts & crafts stuff I can do and sell online

I can assure you that as soon as you put up something like this, and it sells, you will have 50 people copying you. They may not do it as well, but a lot of people who buy on eBay don't seem to realize that. I speak from experience : ( When I started sellign what I sell, there were 3 of us, and I started my item at $16.00 and often sold it for $30. Now it seldom goes over my BIN of $20. I see people selling the same item as me for $10..and even buying the products at wholesale (if they are), they aren't making but a pittance.

There are many who buy from the missions and Salvation army, others who spend hours trying to find online that special something that sells wholesale..but you can't go with the usual wholesale places, since that's where others get their items. Garage sales in smaller towns are prob the place to hit, as well as neighbors, friends, etc.

Estate sales in affluent neighborhoods are my bread and butter. I do a search of them every Thursday, map them out and go out every Friday and Saturday. It's AMAZING what you can find.

After you've scouted them in the morning, COME BACK in the evening before they pack up. Sometimes they're willing to give you everything for next to nothing.

There's a very good second hand store here in town that has everything half price on Mondays. I'm there at 8:30am every Monday. I can get back my entire total in the sale of one item!

I agree with the others, EVERYONE has some junk they don't want. Offer to clean it up, haul it away or give them a set price for all of it. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I agree about the wholesale lots. You can see them right behind each other on the pages and after awhile no one buys them anymore!

I found boxes of old souvenirs and gifts people have given me when they went on vacation. Sometimes these things can get you aLOT of money!

Do your research and find out what sells. These threads are LOADED with secrets and information that is beyond priceless.

I went to garage sales in affluent neighborhoods last weekend and all I saw was JUNK! I went early too. I just don't know waht to look for. I couldn't imagine anyone buying any of the stuff I saw there.

I may try again today.

What you might want to do is make note of some things you saw that were very cheap and that you didn't personally want, but that represented a specific place or sport or hobby, particularly if old, vintage or antique. Then do searches on ebay and see what comes up.

I have started looking for travel souvenirs, and if they are cheap enough, I grab them. Also old magazines. Those that have sold have more than made up for those that didn't.... but I only paid a quarter or 50 cents, so non-sellers don't hurt that much. I'll just save them for a different season.

This has got me thinking.....we have friends who moved to Arizona a few yrs ago. They are always shipping us AZ souvenirs (T-shirts, mugs, shot glasses). We hardly use these things bc., well, they are not souvenirs of a place we actually went to. Will they sell on e-bay?

Also, I have a stack of "Country" magazines that my mom dumped on me. I'll never read them. Will they sell?
