Ebay - yet another question

Lately I've run into a few bad ebay situations. Two sellers that after I won a bid were delisted. They had decent feedback (over 90%) up until I bid then all negatives. Since the items were only around $20 each I had no recourse.

I then sold tickets to an NFL game and long story short had to refund after the game because DHL never got them there. Not ebay's fault but I was responsible even though I shipped as promised.

I've been careful to check feedback prior to any bidding. I just bid on a Thomas cake topper for my son. 97% feedback. Well its been 12 days since end of auction so I emailed the seller for a shipping update. Got a very short reply saying "wed or thursday and I'll email". Now its already been 13 days since end of auction when I did a buy it now and pay pal for immediate payment. And of course NOW the seller is starting to get a lot of negative feedback. With shipping it was $10 but i'm starting to lose faith.

Of course I'm not going to post negative feedback until i know for sure i'm not getting the item but I think 13 days is a very unfair wait time. Especially for the seller to not contact me and tell me why its so late.

What do you think is a reasonable time to wait to ship?

Hi! I'm a new e-bayer myself, and I shipped my first round of sales the day after I received the money. I'm still waiting ( a week later) for a payment for one item, but she emailed me and SAID it was coming via paypal...didn't know it took so long to click a button! Anyway, as a buyer, my FIRST EVER buy never came and the person was removed from ebay the day I paid. I was a little irritated with ebay for that one, but like a dummy I paid by check so bye-bye $9.

I've noticed that some things I buy come SUPER fast, but others take much longer. I personally will continue to ship as soon as payment is received whenever possible because I think that's just the right thing to do. Some people do state in their auctions that they only ship once a week - I think that's fine because you know up front.

13 days is excessive. If you paid by paypal, you can file a non-receipt complaint. The seller will have 10 days to respond as to what is going on with the item delivery. Good luck!

I agree that 13 days to ship is poor. I ship the day after payment is made---but I think anything between 1-4 days is fine---anything after that (unless stated in the auction what your "shipping days" are) is too long to wait.

To be honest with you---97% feedback isn't that great. There are alot of seller with 97% feedback that get TONS of selling negatives but because either their volume is high---or they buy in volumes themselves---the % stays up. I would pay more attention to the number of negatives a person has received and what they are for--AND what their response was to them.

I also stay clear of the sellers who always repond NASTY to all their negative feedback.

Last year on a 2nd purchase from the same seller, I didn't receive the item for almost 3 weeks. The seller only ships on Thursday...so I sent a note to him just simply stating I had not yet received the pins. He responded back that he would check into it. I did hear from him a few days later...apparently his box of mail was still in PO never processed for 2 weeks(was behind stuff I guess). The seller was very nice...and I don't think knew there was any problems(btw no one left negative feedback), and I know I wasn't the only one affected. I have brought from him several more times...all have been fine (he still has no negative feedbacks). I hope yours works out too.
