I got the following message from ebay today (through their system). There was more to it, but I just copied the main part. I've never gotten one of these from them before. Has anybody else got any experience with it?

It was headed with something like: SP Alert

Our records indicate that you received an email from *********** through our Contact eBay Member or Ask Seller a Question feature. Please be aware that the email might contain a fraudulent offer to purchase or sell an item outside of eBay. We recommend not responding to the sender because the email might be an attempt to obtain your email address.

Thanks for the input!

I think you might want to remove the user name quoted in the e-mail. Not sure, but I think that's not permitted.

I don't sell on e-bay, so I'm no help to you on your question.

Hope someone else can assist!

Thanks, I guess I was removing the user name while you were posting. As soon as my post came up, I went in to edit it.

but log onto ebay (manually, not through a link if there's one in that email!) and see if there's a copy of the same mail in your messages there..if not, it's a fake email, if there's a copy, and you get an email from the person ebay is telling you may be a fraud, just ignore it..can't think of anything else you could do about it anyhow!

I actually got the message on ebay. The email also came, but the message I looked at was in my ebay messages.

I haven't heard anything from the seller at all (I had asked a question about one of their auctions through the ebay system).

This is the first time I've ever gotten a message like this before. It seems like ebay would pull their auctions if there was a problem. :confused3
