This one takes the cake. I've seen LOTS of stupid stuff posted on eBay before but I can't believe that somebody is selling the paper luggage tags that they give away free on the last night of the cruise. The bidding is up to $7.50 with shipping for all 8 of them. I guess they don't know that THEY ARE FREE AT GUEST SERVICES. Wow!!!! Go look. Here's the item number 2273479184 It's worth the laugh. I can't wait to see what the auction closes at!
Oh, and don't miss the soaps and lotion packets Item # 2273704985 (you know, the free ones you get in your cabin every day????) I guess people will try and make a buck any way they can. I still see people selling the Disney vacation planning video now and then.

<grins> I saw a DCL pen trying to be sold on Ebay once. You know the little yellowish ones with the blue caps that are everywhere? Going for $1.

You just never know with people.

i thought the wind from one of the hurricanes, was hilarious!!
someday actually bid on it, not sure what it ever sold for.

people are a hoot with what they will sell!!!

we should start a list of the crazy things from a DCL cruise you could sell.!!!!

LOL:p

I hear what you are saying, but it does cost thousands just to get to Guest Services for those free tags :crazy2:

Think of eBay as a yard sale..... People put out what ever it is they don't want or need anymore and try to sell it... This person happens to be selling the luggage tags of a Disney cruise. For a Disney collector that never plans on going a Disney cruise $5 dollars is not a large expense to pay someone for these "free" tags....

To each his own - i guess ::yes::

ACCK!! And I just threw away about 10 of them that I found in my kids' luggage!! LOL!!

It's funny that you should post about the luggage tags. We were on the Magic this August and my dd (9) grabbed a set and told me she was going to sell it on Ebay! Now I've dabbled in ebay a bit so she knows what it is about but boy did she surprise me when she said that! I will have to go home and tell her about it..lol

I love this analogy:D

I have also seen the soaps, shampoo, lotion, conditioner and shower caps - all for sale on E-bay. These were from DCL but I've also seen them from the hotel - the one's in the Mickey Mouse bottle. Can you imagine! Cracks me up:p

As for the hurricane - somebody also sold wood chips from a fallen tree and rain water from Hurricane Charley! LOL! Who buys this stuff?

NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE, BUT

I "THANK GOD"FOR EBAY, FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS,

IT IS PUTTING MY DAUGHTER THRU COLLEGE.

YOUR JUNK, MAYBE SOME ONE'S "TREASURE"

I guess the people that bid on them are ones like me that have never been on a cruise and don't know what they cost - if anything.
I saw the tags and thought they were cute, but didn't bid on them.
I did bid on some new sealed mugs, even though I know you don't need them anymore. I still want them to drink out of during our cruise and figured it would be easier to already have them than to buy them there. I didn't win them, and I'm glad I didn't because they went for almost $20 (for 2). Then a couple of days later I saw a thread on here that now they're only $3! LOL
I need to get on here and ask what things are worth, BEFORE I bid!

While all's fair in love and ebay...and I am an avid eBay-er, the one problem I see happening is that people will start grabbing up fistloads of the luggage tags and anything else not nailed down, and Disney will have to respond to this shrinkage by making them ugly and generic so they have no collectible value. A friend who is a CM told me some teens were caught walking along a corridor at Wilderness Lodge helping themeselves to everyone's "do not disturb" door tags--they admitted they were going to sell them on eBay.

On my last cruise, I'm pretty sure someone two staterooms down from us "liberated" the cute fish message clip outside the door (we overheard them talking about possibly doing it--they had this conversation right outside our door--and sure enough, it was gone on disembarkation morning). One was listed on eBay a few weeks later. Could have been just a coincidence, but...I'm all for free commerce, but I do worry that Disney will eventually have to un-brand items to keep them from walking out the door in large numbers so others can sell them.

OMG ... DD grabbed a handful of the DCL luggage tags to use in our scrapbooks ... maybe I'll sell the leftovers :hyper:

I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay $7.50 for those paper tags! Too funny!

With the room soaps though, I can almost see paying a little for them I love the lotion! Of course, I don't love it enough to get in a bidding war on Ebay over it. :)

My two cents... While it is stealing when people take items that are the property of Disney, like the fish message clip and the do not disturb signs, etc, I do not see anything wrong with selling those "extra" items that are included in your stateroom/resort, such as the soaps and lotions. I have never done this, but what the heck, why NOT sell them?

Like others have said, many people cannot afford to go on a Disney Cruise or go to WDW. They might love to have a little slice of the magic too. Let's say someone is putting together a gift basket for a child or Disneyaholic in the hospital - they just so happen to see some cheap soaps and lotions on eBay - what could be better than Mickey Mouse soap to cheer them up? :earsboy:

As others have also said, you pay thousands of dollars to get those luggage tags. I would think a scrapbooker would love them, so why not sell the ones you have? I'm not saying to snag a hundred of them from guest services, but I don't see anything wrong with trying to make a few bucks on the freebies that come with your vacation. Who knows, whatever you earn, could pay for a few drinks on your next cruise.

I do think selling the free videos is crossing the line. I'm not even sure it is legal to do so. I do not condone anything that is considered stealing Disney property, just to make a buck on eBay. My hats off to those eBayers who can actually make a little cash though, on those shampoos, lotions, stationary, and luggage tags. After eBay and Paypal fees, they are practically giving the stuff away anyway. On that note, I kinda like my Dixie Landings stationary. :teeth:

(Note: I have not done this)
What is the difference between selling the free video/dvd that was GIVEN to you by DCL (they don't ask you to return it) and selling a used Snow White video/dvd that you bought and no longer want to keep???

yeah! What you said! Hey, if you can sleep with yourself selling hurricane wind or a free video, more power to ya!

The difference, in my opinion, is that you PAID for the Snow White video. I do not pretend to know if it is legal or not to sell the DCL cruise video, but to me, it is not a nice thing to do since they are free from Disney and easy for anyone to obtain without paying a red cent, going on a Disney cruise, or going to WDW. :)

I suppose the folks selling these videos are a little like those selling hurricane wind.

I think the one that really took the cake was the person who tried to sell a gold "WD" from the end seats in the Walt Disney Theater. My husband and I sailed on the Magic, and I noticed that one was missing. I even joked that someone had probably stolen it for Ebay. Imagine my surprise when it actually turned up there a week or two later! Worse yet, after I posted it here, several DISers emailed the person and he posted here and sent nasty emails with some **** and bull story about how it "fell off" and a CM presented it to him as a "gift." It turned into quite an interesting saga. I think he finally removed the listing.
