eBay question

We did a buy it now on a product on eBay. The seller had 6 good feedback posts so we felt okay about it. I didn’t pay attention to when the feedback was from. In looking later, they are all from over a year ago. Anyway, the product is supposed to come by tomorrow. It appears that the seller is no longer active because it doesn’t show as being shipped yet and they won’t answer their emails. My question…Can someone put something on eBay for an indefinite amount of time? Just curious because of the way this has happened. No communication and it is just sitting. We can ask for our money back tomorrow so I’m not worried about losing our money but we would really like the product. When we put things on eBay, a long time ago, it only ran for 30 days or so.
We can’t find the product anywhere else. It is the Grip Dat selfie stick. Evidently they are no longer manufacturing it. Someone on here actually found it on eBay for me. The only other person that has it on eBay has no feedback and I also tried emailing them with no response. I guess we are out of luck. I have scoured the internet.
It just made me wonder if rules had changed since the last time we sold anything on eBay.

You can have listings auto renew after 30 days. I sell items on ebay and my listings renew without me doing anything.

Yes. As Smugpugmug said, items can be auto renewed if they don't sell. That could end up with a listing for an indefinite amount of time.

Because I knew the nice people on the disboard would know as i have seen other eBay questions on here. It was easier and quicker than hunting the info on eBay. They did, and were nice enough to answer. Thank you Smugpugmug and StageTek.

I had something sell the other day that I almost forgot I had listed. It had been on there for maybe a couple years? Fortunately I check that email regularly. If someone doesn't I could see them missing it. It's not an excuse, but it could be an explanation.

March 13th. On eBay it says that it should arrive by tomorrow if it had actually been shipped when it was supposed to be. We have to wait until it doesn’t show up and then we can open an inquiry with eBay.

Did eBay send you an email listing it as shipped, (even though you didn't get a tracking number?) If so, it probably has shipped. You didn't get a tracking number because they aren't using a service that eBay/PayPal can track correctly to give you the tracking number, or the Seller just didn't enter it. But, the Seller would have had to let eBay know it was shipped in order for the email to have been generated.

That happened to me a couple weeks ago. Somebody sent something and I never got a tracking number to know when it would arrive. All I got was the eBay email a couple days after I bought it, saying it had shipped. Since this Seller has a high feedback rating, I didn't question it. Although, it would have been nice to know when it would arrive. It did arrive within the time frame eBay said it would show up.

If you never got a separate email, then you can't just go by the date in the listing. Those are just general dates of when the item may arrive if the transaction goes as planned.

Thank you so much for your help! I have been hopeful that it was going to come through as well. Unfortunately, I haven’t received an email from Ebay saying it had been shipped. Also, when I go on to check the status, there is one of those bars that shows you where in the process it is and it is still showing between paid and shipped so it isn’t moving. :-( I even emailed the second person that you told me about to see if they were legit but haven’t received anything from them either. I appreciate your help though! It was worth a shot.
