Ebay Question

I really don't have any experience with Ebay and bought something 2 nights ago using the buy it now feature, using paypay and credit card. Well I just recieved email from ebay from the Loss Prevention Department saying that they recently removed all of this seller's active listings and have suspended the seller's trading privileges.

They also said "if you have not sent payment to the seller, we urge you to not proceed until you are completely confident that the transaction will be completed safely. One method for gaining confidence in the transaction is to request the seller's contact information and confirm the transaction via telephone.
If you have already paid, you may wish to pursue recouping your funds. Some steps you might take include:
1. Ask the seller for a refund
2. If you paid by check, ask your bank to stop payment
3. If you paid by credit card, contact your credit card company's security department
4. If you paid with PayPal, review the Buyer Complaint Process."

Should I just assume that I won't be getting my item and contact my credit card company, or should I go through the paypal buyer complaint process??
Should I just forget about contacting the seller at all?
What would cause ebay to remove a seller's trading priveleges?

Could it be a spoof email?? forward it to spoof@paypal.com and spoof@ebay.com see if its real before you do anything!

I just forwarded the email to the spoof address. But I just checked on ebay and it does say that this seller is no longer a registered user, and also the same message is in the my messages box on my ebay account, so maybe it is not a spoof. If not, what should I do next?
I don't think I ever want to buy anything from ebay again!!

I wish you luck! Two years ago I bought two items from an ebay member, paid with Paypal. Never received either item and was unable to recoup my money. :( Unfortunately I never received any notification from eBay, I had to contact them about my situation. Good luck!

That notice doesn't necessarily mean your seller is doing anything illegal. They could just be behind in paying their eBay fees. I'd send an email to the seller asking them about it. Also ask if your package has been mailed.

If it hasn't been mailed ask them to cancel the order and provide a refund. You are no longer under any obligation to complete the transaction. If they refuse, then go to PayPal and contact your credit card company to get your money back. You should have no trouble under these circumstances.

Now I'm confused, because after reporting the email to the ebay spoof dept.
I got a reply that the email I reported was not sent by eBay. But yet the same message is in my inbox in my ebay account (actually there are 4 copies of the same exact message sent to my ebay account and to my personal email address), and if it was a spoof I wouldn't think it would be in my ebay
message box. Also, the seller is no longer a registered user on ebay and has no items listed on ebay anymore, so the email sounds valid.

You might want to wait and see if you hear from the seller. If you used your credit card than you have 60 days to contest the charges. The last time we bought something that the seller did not send and I called the credit card and they wanted to be sure that I had had time to receive it. It had been 3 weeks and once we contested the charge the seller finally shipped it. I guess he thought he was going to keep the item and the money.

This is one reason we always use our credit card and not a bank transfer. Paypal will not always work to get your money back, but your credit card company will investigate and unless the seller can prove that he sent it and you received it you will get your money back.

Just don't reply to the email. A spoof email is usually trying to get your password, asking you for info. Do not follow any links in the email.
