Ebay purchase question

After purchasing an item on ebay, it is not in workable condition. I contacted the seller and have not yet gotten a response. What is the reasonable amount of time you would allow for a response before contacting Ebay?

I did read the Ebay page about this and it did not specify...so I want to be reasonable yet need to purchase a different item as soon as we get a refund. How many days would you wait?

If you contacted them over the weekend I'd give them 1 business day. I'd open a compliant with Ebay within 3 days.

You can always close the Ebay complaint if the seller responds and it gets resolved.

Thanks, that sounds reasonable to me too.

I first emailed Saturday, then again this morning. When we purchased initially we received an email from his phone, so it is likely he/she has internet access. I wonder if I am being ignored because they knew the item didn't work or if it is just an innocent mistake. But tomorrow I will let them know I am contacting ebay about the item. Thanks again!

I would wait 24 hours from the last email that you sent (this morning or whenever). Then I would open a "not as described" case in the resolution center. It is possible the seller is out of town or something.

I went ahead this morning and opened a not as described case with Ebay. I got an email back pretty quickly stating the seller wished for Ebay to review the case, so I guess now I just wait.

Strange the seller has great feedback and did not even try to resolve the issue with us!

Pretty stupid of the seller. eBay generally sides with the buyer in these cases and they get a strike against them when ebay sides with the buyer.
