Ebay problem

I'm hoping someone has an answer for this. I bought a vacation rental on Ebay. There is no shipping of an item involved it's all done via email. However, I guess you have to list something under shipping and the seller made it international for me so that I could Paypal it right away. Well, when I went to pay for it there was a shipping and customs fee of $50 that was added on. The seller has been very helpful in trying to straighten it all out but at this point we don't know how to get the $50 back. I went ahead and paid for the auction along with the additional $50 so that we could get it moving along. On my paypal receipt it says the $50 went to PitneyBowes....the seller only got her money.

Does anyone know how I can get that $50 back?

This is really probably an error on the seller's part. I'm a power seller on ebay and you can list items with Free Shipping and I have done so many times.

It's really odd that the seller did it that way. It sounds like they not only used International Shipping, but actually used Ebay's Global Shipping program.

I'm not sure if you can get the money back, but I'd start by contacting Pitney Bowles customer service email for that specific Ebay program -- PBISGSPCS@pb.com

Have the seller contact eBay. They have a team dedicated to the global shipping program and they should be able to straighten it out. I had an international customer purchase something and change their mind, and I only had the ability to refund the item price because the shipping goes to a 3rd party. I contacted eBay and they were able to make sure the shipping refund happened as well.

Yes, it really is just a simple error. The original listing only had fee shipping to the USA. I'm in Canada so I was unable to pay for it after I won. The seller said she would re-list the item as a buy now with the correct shipping info. So that's what we did and all was good until I went to pay and the additional charges were there. At that point we had been back and forth for over an hour and I just wanted to go to bed so I paid for it and now will try to get the $50 back.

I've rented from Ebay before with no issues at all. I do take the time to check out the seller before hand.

Thanks, I will pass along that info to the seller. She seems very willing to help me. I sort of feel bad about asking her to do any work on this ad I got the reservation for a really low price.
