Ordered an item ($50+) and seller sent it via usps. I paid with paypal as there seems to be no other choice.

NEVER received item. So the track # says it was delivered and I'm sure it was, but not to me!

paypal won't refund nor will seller as package was 'delivered'.

What do I do and has any one had this? Since our postal worker pays ZERO attention (busy on blackberry and ipod) i'm sure he put it in another box in the building!!!!

Did you pay with a credit card through paypal? If so, you can start a charge back on the credit card.

was it a signed item or insurance on it???? I would contact post office with tracking number and have them run a trace on it. good luck

No, i had $45 in paypal account, so they took it. :(

A good reason not to keep money in your PayPal account. It's so much safer to pay with a credit card, which you can't do if you have cash in your account.

Put up a notice in your building asking if anyone has your package and file a complaint with the post office about your mail carrier.

USPS "delivered" generally means delivered to the local post office. From there it's sorted and truly delivered. it's the most ridiculous system, especially when companies use it as proof of anything. Call or visit your PO first, IMO.

I meant, paypal and track number shows item delivered to recipient. again, not me, called post office, useless

but the seller would have had to take out insurance and put a trace on it, right?

I would definitely check with your post office. As a seller on ebay this is something that is pretty troubling for sellers. The post office says it was delivered, the seller has fulfilled their part, but if the buyer says they didnt get it and file a chargeback the seller loses out on the money and item.

I understand how a buyer would feel too. Its a tough one

Except there is no chargeback when using paypal. THEY DECIDE if you should be refunded or not. since item said DELIVERED (again, not to me) they would not refund me.

Right, I know that. I was referring to the person who mentioned if someone used their credit card they could do a chargeback with the credit card company

I guess as far as Paypal all they can go by is the delivery confirmation which sometimes isnt accurate but what else can they do?

That is very strange. I have heard again and again that a simple Delivery Confirmation on a package is no longer sufficient on an eBay package. The buyer automatically gets their money back unless there is a signature if they claim the package was not received. Did they show a signature on your package?

One of many reasons not to use Ebay. Or for that matter, PayPal.

Both extremely consumer-unfriendly companies.

Granted it was a couple of years ago, but I ordered a large selection of bath bombs from an Ebay seller (like 25lbs). I never received them, even though the confirmation said they were delivered and even had a time of day they were delivered. Both the seller and Pay Pal refused to refund. I didn't even think about filing with my credit card company.

I wasn't home at the time of delivery, but live in a house (not an apartment) and my front door is pretty concealed from the street with some fairly tall shrubs in front and a covered walkway/entryway before you get to my front door. You can't see the base of my door from the street in other words. I did ask my neighbors and no one noticed anyone around my house, nor did they notice the mail man walking toward my door.

Nooo. The buyer does not get money back. The seller does not have to get buyer signature, just has to have a 'scan' that postal worker delivered it.

if the postal worker drops it at your neighbors house, then scans that it was delivered, then they consider it delivered. So wrong and unfair.

In our case, as I said, our postal worker is onthe ipod and texting on a blackberry as they are 'working'. very distracted and mistakes are happening all over.

A signature is only required if the item was $250 or more. Otherwise the seller only needs delivery confirmation for protection.

I think that you can ask the seller to file a USPS trace for you. They sent it and it *was* delivered to someone so it really wasn't the seller's fault. Even you said that you think it's your letter carrier who messed up, so I think that PayPal might have it right here. Why should the seller pay for the USPS's mistake? Sorry :(.

I had this happen in 2009, I ordered a stroller for $200 off ebay,I tracked the package on the ups website all day waiting for it because it was a stroller that retailed over $400 and didnt want it stolen, finally it said it was delivered but it was no where to be found.I contatced UPS,they said yes it was delivered to xxx x street, well they had the wrong address from the seller (it was on my street thank goodness!) anyway as far as they were concerned they did their end and delivered it to the address they were given and wouldnt go back and retrieve it even though I had the email etc saying it was mine.....the seller wouldnt do anything saying as far as they were concerned it was delivered and I must have given them the wrong address even though my correct addy is on ebay and paypal accts, paypal said they couldnt do anything it was between me and the seller...the way I had it resolved was to trek down to my neighbors with my print out and explain they had something of mine by mistake, luckily it was no problem and they gave it to me, had it been mistakingly delivered anywhere else I dont know what I would have done.
I have also had my credit card info stolen twice now right after using paypal and both times it was stolen to sign up for online dating sites I got my money back after filing with fraud depts but caused bounced checks at my bank that I wasnt reimbursed for,I now refuse to use paypal and will send sellers a PM on ebay to ask if they will accept other payment, most do but not all...it is really annoying ebay almost has nothing but paypal AND you cant sell anything without a paypal acct.

Why should a person pay for an item (not a cheap item) and have it not delivered properly, without insurance and without signature.

How has the seller's communication been? I would double check with them that the correct address was put on the package, including the zip code.

There is not much that you can do as the recipient through the post office, but the seller should contact their post office and make an inquiry. The post office internal system often has more package information than what is listed on their web site when you do a search.

Hope it works out for you.

As others have pointed out, insurance and signature are not required so the item was sent properly. Was insurance an additional option? I'm sorry that you are out of money :(. Really, I am. I would double check that your address is correct and verify with the seller where they sent the item.
