Hi, I recently starting selling on ebay. My PayPal account is a personal account. When I sent invoices to winning bidders I told them my PayPal account was not set up to accept credit cards and if they use PayPal to send transfers only. I also told them I'd accept money orders or personal checks. Here is my question - What do you do when winning bidders use PayPal and try to pay with a credit card? The amounts are sitting in my PayPal account waiting for me to "accept or reject". I don't want to upgrade to a premier or business accout because of the cost. I'm very new to ebay and paypal. What do I do?? TIA

In this case, you will have to email the winning bidder and explain to them you will have to deny their payment if its via a credit card and not existing funds. Alot of buyers don't understand this and may give you a hard time. You will see most buyers just paypal you the money and never bother to notice your existing funds terms. IMHO, its much easier to just upgrade to premier and accept all payments. The fees really aren't that bad and to me they are well worth the convenience of having to wait for money orders. A personal paypal account is fine if you're just a buyer but when you start to sell, its just easier to upgrade.

If you do not want to recieve credit card payments, reject these and tell the buyer of the payment options. I thought that I'd just let one credit card payment come through and not accept them anymore. Well, now I don't have the option to reject payments anymore and am stuck with the credit card fee on each transaction made with a credit card.

Actually you are now paying fees on ALL payments even those that are not credit card funded..I think that stinks personally but felt forced finally to do it

klynn: You need to deny those payments so they get their money back and email them to repeat your terms. Another thing is you cant use the Paypal icon in your auctions if you are as it shows credit cards which can cause confusion.

Upgrading can be good and bad. I upgraded my PayPal account and there have been alot of times I wish I hadn't.

For example, DH found a pump for his fish tank from a guy that is on a fish website forum. DH asked all kinds of questions to make sure this was the type of pump that he needed. The guy said it was and it was a good deal compared to buying it off a fish website. So DH asked me to PayPal the money to this guy, so I did a instant transfer to him.

When the pump came, it was the wrong one after all. Guy said he was sorry and that he did very little research on the pump and the company offers two of them, one for ponds one for aquariums. Funny thing is, it said for ponds on the box.

So DH sent it back to him and when the guy received it, he repaid us using a credit card. After going through all of this, we are out over $18 {return shipping and CC fee through PayPal} all thanks to this guy. AAAHHH!!!! I could not believe the nerve of this guy to pay with a CC after I paid him with an instant transfer.

Anyways, think long and hard before upgrading.

Sorry this was long!!!!
