I finally won an auction for a Mickey item that I have been wanting for awhile. I didn't care if it was new or used as long as it was in good condition. I won an auction for a brand new one in original packaging for a pretty good price. Well, I just got an offer from another buyer saying that they forgot to bid and they would like to purchase the item from me for more than double what I paid for it (the offer is for what they said their max would have been.) They are a legit ebay person and I could likely get a similar item for slightly less than I paid for this one. There aren't many of the ones I got for auction often and even fewer that are brand new (the item is from 10+ years ago)

I just can't decide what to do :sad2: I really do like this item but I could live with another one. The profit is pretty nice for no work on my part (other than mailing it to the other party.)

What would you do?

I just read something in an Ebay email about stuff like this. They are warning against scammers doing this very thing. Be careful!

Well just make sure you list it in an auction- you can set it up so only this person can bid.

If you just sell it to the person off eBay you won't have any recourse if something goes wrong.

if it was me and it was something I really wanted, I would keep it unless I really needed the cash !

I wouldn't do it. If they want one so bad, let them bid on the other ones.

Tell them you want 3x the price and wait for their check to clear. Then send it out! Don't get burned.

Don't do it!!! Ebay recently sent info out warning us about scams like this. I bought a watch last month and had a very friendly email from another bidder asking me to sell it to him as a gift for his wife-paying more than I bought it for (why didn't he just bid higher in the first place?) After contacting Ebay, they said there was alot of this recently. Because your not the seller, you are at risk with no way to recoup your $$$/item if the sale goes bad.

What's their feedback? Is there any other current auctions with a Buy It Now price that they could simply by it from them? If they are truly legit, you could list it as a private auction where only they get the link & are the only one allowed to bid using the Buy It Now price that you agreed upon. If they are paying by Paypal, make sure you do all that is necessary so they can't do a chargeback.

I agree with what this way of selling it to the other bidder.....I have seen auctions set up this way before....smart idea.

The more I think about the more uncomfortatble I get about it!

I'm just going to keep it.

BTW, it is a really cool camera strap. I wanted to get one at WDW but they were sold out. This strap is a really cool black & white one that I saw someone else in the park with. I asked him where he got it and he said he had purchased it about 15 years ago. I knew as soon as I got home that I would start checking on ebay :teeth:

Thanks for all the advice! :flower:

There are currently a couple of B & W ones up for auction, although since I don't know which of the completed auctions are yours, I don't know if they are the same one.

I'd say to let it pass, if they really want it, they can wait for one to come up.

Enjoy your new strap! :)
