Ebay Mess..Please Help!

I have never had this situation happen with ebay and I don't know what to do. On Thursday, Dec 2 an auction of mine closed on a time sensitive item (item expires Dec 30). Several days passed and I heard nothing from the winner despite numerous emails. Finally I receive an email that says a payment was sent. A week passes and I receive nothing. I email this morning and get a response that the buyer is in Puerto Rico and won't be buying the item!! I leave for Disney on Thursday and this item must be used by December 30 or it expires. What do I do?

On a side note, I am new to Paypal. I have an account but have only used it to send payments. How do I receive payments through paypal? How does the payment go from the paypal account to me?

Thanks in advance. This is such a mess and I only have a few days to straighten this out.

Well you could relist the item for a 3 day auction but stipulate that you only accept paypal for the auction and that payment is due immediately, then you would have to charge over-night shipping charges to the buyer, make sure that is stated in the auction also !
You don't have to do anything to receive payments to your paypal account, but I think you have to have a verified checking account in order to withdraw funds to your bank account ! It takes a few days to get your checking account verified because paypal will send 2 small payments to your checking account and then you have to go verify them with Paypal . I hope it works out for you ! Have a wonderful trip !

You go into your account, and request a transfer of the amount of $$ you have in your paypal account to be transferred to your checking account...which usually takes about 3 business days.

As an aside, make sure you leave negative FB and nonpaying bidder notification for that buyer so other people can be warned.

Thank you so much for your replies. It was a Disney convention ticket that my father purchased for our trip and is now unable to make the trip. It does expire on December 30. After trying to decide what to do, I relisted the item on ebay and have left negative feedback for the first buyer. After relisting, the item sold within 20 minutes with Buy It Now. It has been paid for via paypal and will be shipped tomorrow. I just don't understand why they bid and never intended on buying it. They did have really positive feedback and a lot of it. Oh well, lesson learned, I guess.

Thank you for explaining paypal. Once I understood the process, transferring the money was very easy. I appreciate all your help.
