Can you believe it? Ebay isn't just raising its prices in one area but just about all of them. The two biggest is that now it will cost $.35 to list instead of $.25 (no big deal right) and they are going to take 8% instead of their 5._% they were taking before. I guess since they are the biggest game in town they can do it but ouch...

The 35¢ increase is for the GALLERY option.......up from 25¢.

Basic listing insertion fees remain the same.

I rarely used them before as I always thought the only ones getting rich from Ebay was Ebay execs.

They are raising their fee by almost 50% ? :earseek:

Some of the fees are increasing 50%, some 65%, 82% and even 100%.

Basically, no matter how you sell on eBay, they hit you this time, and hit you hard.

I just recently opened an eBay store (No, not pins!), and the increase to store fees is unbelievable:
Final value fees increase from %5.25% to 8% and more, depending on the bid price.
Monthly store basic subscription went from $9.95 to $16.95!

But the natives are very restless. pirate: There is a petition site with over 2,000 signatures -- almost all clothing sellers!

There is another group organizing a listing boycott for January 18th.

In the end, I doubt it will matter. eBay is just shy of being a monopoly. The other sites can barely be called competitive: Yahoo, Bidville, Overstock, etc. I've seem lots of hype about a couple new sites, but who would want to go where the customers can't find you?

ALL of these increases are in the context of consistent RECORD quarterly profits for eBay!

My personal observation is that I am not getting as many bidders as I used to...

Very recently I noticed a sharp increase in non-paying bidders... Got another one now!

Why does eBay keep changing things and making everything more complicated WITHOUT really improving the site?

Sooner or later a competitor will emerge
