I won an auction Wednesday night- paid immediately with PayPal (from existing PayPal balance)
Ever since then my ebay summary says- need to pay for 1 item...when I check on paypal it says the buyer has not yet accepted payment. I have emailed him twice to see if there is a problem and no response. He has lots of auctions still going, ending today, and also the next few days.
I want this item for my trip but I don't think that will happen at this rate.
What should I do?

Something is wrong. There are only a couple of reasons why your payment would show as not accepted. One is if the seller doesn't accept credit card payments through Paypal, and you paid with one. The other is if there is a typo somewhere in the seller's email address. If there is nothing wrong, a seller doesn't have to "accept" a Paypal payment, it just goes on through and the seller is notified.

I sold something once and the buyer kept insisting that she had paid and that Paypal told her they had emailed me to open an account. I kept telling her that I had had an account with Paypal since the very first. I finally got an email from the girl's sister that she had found and corrected the typo in my address.

Actually, if you went to PayPal to pay and not via Ebay, Ebay will not show it as paid, but PayPal will. Hope this makes sense.

I paid by hitting the "pay now" button on my invoice. The auction states that they do accept CC payments through PayPal. Maybe they don't accept transfers from PayPal account.

Everybody who accepts Paypal accepts transfers from balance, that's the absolute "golden way" for sellers. Some people just don't accept the credit card way because in order to go that route, you have to agree to pay fees to Paypal.

I'm sorry, I don't know what could be wrong. When you sign in directly to your Paypal account (without going in through eBay), it doesn't say "completed"?

I'm trying to come up with some way to help you, without violating your privacy; I've had those frustrated times and they aren't fun.

Actually I have had to accept a payment 3 different times as a seller. I have no idea why, since I have a premier account, and accept all payments. I guess I would try e-mailing them again. I would think they would have accepted by now, but they could be out of town, or sick or something.

I've had to deny or accept payment many times. I think it has to do with whether or not they are verified and have a confirmed address. It lets you know how long the buyer has been registered and how many transactions they have had, then you can choose to deny or accept. If it is not verified and you accept you are not covered under Paypal's protection plan.

Ok- I just went and looked at recent activity in PayPal and it shows the transfer from myPayPal account "complete" then is shows tranfer tosellers email address "unclaimed"
Thanks for trying to help- I am not too stressed about it since really today is only the 3rd day after the auction. I will worry about it Monday if I still haven't heard from the guy.
Oh my PalPal status is "verified" but I wonder if my address in ebay is "confirmed". I checked my address in ebay and it is correct.
I haven't ever been asked to accept a paypal payment - I just get a happy email telling me I have more money.

Just a thought: Maybe the seller is busy and hasn't gotten to your item. It's the Hoiliday season. I hope it's as simple as that. Good luck!

It's been a couple of months since I sold anything, and since they are prone to make changes almost hourly, I should have known that some of my information would be stale.

Good luck!

If you don't get a resonse by Monday, why don't you request his user information and get the phone number and just call. I have done that in the past when someone bounced a check on me. I got the women's husband, and he sent out a money order for the item as well as the bank fee I had to pay for the bounced check.

I don't accept personal checks anymore though!

Ok- He Emailed Me- I Cancelled The Payment And Resent It To A Different Paypal Account And It Went Through.
Thanks Everybody For Trying To Help Me Figure This Out.
