I had ten auctions close on Friday and they all were paid for promptly except the biggest one (over $230). It closed Friday at 3 pm CST and I haven't heard word one from the buyer now and it's Monday 7 pm CST. I invoiced her right away with a polite note. This am I sent a follow up email stating, "Haven't heard from you yet, your item is all boxed and ready to send. As auction stated it's going USPS priority, and this is a very busy week for that, wouldn't you like to pay for it so I can get it in the mail? Please let me know your status." No word back.

I know she has 7 days to pay, but thought I would have heard from her as it states within the 3 days. Her numbers are all positive, although on closer scrutiny, it looks as though she's bought a LOT from the same person (hopefully not to just drive her positives up...).

Advice?
TIA
Terri

Do you have anything about how soon she has to pay? When I sold stuff, I think I had the option of like 1 day or 3 days or something like that. If she has 7 days, then you have to wait the 7 days. She could be out of town and knowing she had that long to pay for it, she may of known she would be back in time to do so. All you can do is wait at this point and relist if needed after 7 days.

I know Ebay requires that we give them 7 days, which is fine, except I'll have to take the box with me out of state on Thursday when I go to my family's for Xmas if I don't hear from her by then ;). I just hope she's not regretting spending so much less than a week before Christmas...

And would it be typical for her to have SO many of her positive comments come from the same person:confused3?

Sigh...

I wouldn't bring the box with you. I would send them a not stating that you are leaving out of town and will be back home on such and such date, if payment is made by then, you will ship it on that date, if not you are relisting.

Where is she located? I'm in TN. Most of the east coast had a HUGE snow storm this weekend (Friday actually). There are still tens of thousands of people who are w/o power, some w/o water. Maybe she doesn't have internet access right now. I was only able to leave my house today! Just a thought.

That would be a nice reason, but she's in downstate MI, only a matter of hours from me.

I think I'll send her an email tomorrow if I don't hear from her stating that I'm leaving for out of town on Thursday, and if I get back the next Tues and it's paid, I'll mail it then, otherwise it will be relisted.

eBay changed their policy regarding the timeframe for filing a non-paying bidder alert - it is no longer 7 days:

"Policy overview
When a buyer wins an item or uses Buy It Now to purchase an item, they’re obligated to complete the purchase by sending full payment to the seller.

If a buyer doesn’t pay for an item within 4 days, sellers can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center. If the buyer still doesn't pay or reach some other agreement with the seller, eBay may record the unpaid item on the buyer's account. "

Is it possible she's stuck somewhere out of state? That she'd been bidding from a location other than her home and the snowstorm/blizzard has her delayed in some other city for, potentially, several days? And that getting home is her main concern, that she'll contact you as soon as she is home?

Or there was another family emergency?

Thanks, so much, for that 4 day information! I didn't know of the change. I'm just upset because, for me, it's a lot of $$, and you never know when you relist it if you'll get as much again. (I had researched completed listings, and mine brought near the top--first edition, MIB, etc.)

I'm going to email her again this afternoon, in the hope that she has had something excusable delay her...

Terri

This just happend to me, after 4 days you open a resultion item for the listing, then they have 3 or 4 days to respond. If not, you close the resolution and Ebay refunds your end of listing fees.

Sorry this happend to you, you can also try a second chance listing instead of re-listing it...

Isn't there a way to get a phone number from ebay? I've never had to call anyone, but it seems like I remember eading that there is a way to get a number.:confused3

They used to do that. I had a seller take off on me once. Of course the number eBay sent me was also no good :(

From ebay > go to the page with the site map > last column on right side (COMMUNITY)> 2nd section down (CONNECT) > Then click on FIND CONTACT INFO.
It'll open a page that asks for user id of buyer and item number then email you with phone numbers within a minute or two. She'll get an email just like yours that says it was requested by you so she'll have a heads up that you'd like to contact her.

I'd definitely call your bidder, if only to explain that it isn't possible to guarantee dec 25 delivery via priority mail this week. Maybe just a "Hi, I wanted to touch base to see if you needed this for Christmas b/c time is getting so short." That's non-confrontational and will give you an idea of whether to relist/offer a second chance/or wait for payment without putting her on the defensive and risking a feedback issue.

Good luck with it. :goodvibes

Well, I just received payment at 3 pm, no email or anything, just paypal notice, so I raced over to the p.o. with it. I just sent the buyer an email stating that it went out today but that, due to the holiday, the postmistress said to advise her that there could well be a delay in delivery. I had also not connected that because it was more than $200 it will be signature required. I let the buyer know that as well.

Thank you all for your advice!
Terri
