UGH.

I purchased something and received it last week. I had not left feedback yet.

Seller just sent me a NASTY note asking if my intention was just to leave bad feedback or what…….

WHAT?????

Turns out she obviously sent the message to the wrong person because looking at her recent feedback I see the negative one and it was NOT from me!!!!!!

I have emailed her back and told her to make sure that she is e-mailing the correct person because I did not leave feedback at all yet.

But it really has turned me off…..it was so rude. I am sure she was mad, but sheesh.

What is the big deal? It's possible the person the email was meant for was rude first or a terrible buyer; you don't know. Delete the email and forget about it.

Shake it off -- we sellers live (and die) by the buyer's feedback. But, never do I "solicit" feedback, after the fact...

That would irritate me too! That is fine and dandy if the seller wants to send a nasty email, but they should double check that it is going to the correct person and not be dragging the wrong person into their drama! I would do just what you did, reply to the email and let the seller know that she is being nasty to the wrong person - then delete the email and forget about it.

UPDATE:

She emailed me back and said that indeed it was for someone else and that she was very sorry, she was just so frustrated.

If the seller was fairly new, ebay/paypal holds their payment until positive feedback is received. No feedback, no get paid for item...

I doubt they don't get paid if they don't get feedback. I sold over 250 items in the last 6 months and am lucky if 25% leave feedback. As a seller I leave feedback after they leave it for me. I used to do it immediately upon shipping but so many people mysteriously never got their item until I sent them the tracking number. It's easier now that that the tracking is automatic when using Paypal/Ebay's postage and not the USPS site.

True, from your link it is a specific set of conditions and may not apply to all new sellers... Thank you for the link. I appreciate it. I don't sell on ebay but buy nearly everything we use in a year from there... :)

If you have received more than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) in the past 12 months and your DSR average is 4.5 or higher, your payments will not be held.
If you have less then 20 ratings or a lower then a 4.5 average... then?

Why might my payments be held?
PayPal will hold payments in transactions where the vast majority of seller fraud occurs. Here are the most common instances in which a payment may be held:

You are new to eBay and sell an item above £50
You have a low feedback score and sell an item above £50
More than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*
You have a low Detailed Seller Rating (DSR)
You have not received a significant amount of Detailed Seller Ratings
You are listing your item in a higher-risk category
