I placed an auction tonight and someone bought it immediately with buy it now. It's only $55 so not alot of money, but the whole thing seems fishy. Buyer has 0 feedback, sent an email immediately that looks like one of those generic scam email. Telling me she's out of the country right now and will give me her fed ex account to send shipment (auction only ships within US)to Nigeria. I think it's the fact that she keep asking for my paypal account that makes me nervous. I am so new at this that I am really nervous, just don't know what to do. I'm not comfortable with this transaction, is there anyway I can back out of it? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

You might want to post this on the community board as well.

Sorry I can't help, but it sounds weird. Did you say you will only ship to US addresses? That could be your out?

I would contact EBay. They should not need your PayPal account number. They pay based on the item and your sign in name. I agree it sounds fishy. Why would they purchase if you stated that you would only ship to the US? I would not do anything until I spoke to EBay.

Thank you so much for confirming my suspicion. That's the exact email I got, same text just different names. I just started selling a week ago and was doing so well, this just dampen my enthusiasm.

I love DISboards!!!!

Don't give up!!! You will do just fine. Just make sure you notify ebay so they will remove the fees involved with this scam.

I've been ebaying for 8 years now and I get scammers all the time. I just sold some coins for my hubby and right after selling them I get deluged with scammers trying to hack into my PayPal and ebay account.

I not only have scammers, though, I've also had my share of weirdos and nutcases so it all comes with the territory.

Don't let them deter you from ebaying. Yes, report it and then be sure to offer the item to the next bidder which is allowed or just relist.

GL! :goodvibes

I had someone send me an Email from an item-it was this whole spiel about how they were looking for someone who would represent them in the US and earn part of the profits, etc.-it just seemed wierd-I didn't do anything with the message and it's still on my Ebay-should I forward that type of thing? (I'm also only a month into doing this).

Thanks! :flower:
