Have anyone purchased a Disney vacation packages from Ebay and if so, was it really as good as it seems?

Personally, I wouldn't do it.. Too much of a chance of getting burned.. Tell us what you need - and when you need it - and we can help you on these boards to put together an affordable vacation - probably even BETTER than what is being offered on eBay!;)

I haven't bought one but know several people who have sold there. As with anything it can be a gamble. The people I know were totally legit, but there may be one that is not and that may be the one you get!

Personally, I do not buy anything expensive from ebay -- kids' school uniforms, Disney pins, books . . . little things are no problem. If I end up stiffed for $20 it's not the end of the world. If I were to lose the price of a Disney vacation, that would be a different story!

Thanks everyone for your advice. C.Ann, basically what I am trying to do is to pay no more than $1000 for a 4 night trip or $1500 for a 7 night, that wouldn't include eating or souvenirs of course. But, it would include airfare from Virginia and also a rental car if we stay off site. Is this a challenge, or what? There will be 2 adults and a 4 year old that will be going. This will be our first time at WDW. We are somewhat flexible with travel dates...we would like for it to be in July or August though. We have a beach trip planned for September and a Bahamas vacation planned for May 2004, that's mainly why I need this vacation to be as inexpensive as possible. I wouldn't even be considering it except that we promised my daughter (you know how sometimes you open your mouth without thinking first?) Please Help!!! Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Most ebay vacations seem to have strings attached...so be sure to read the fine print. Be sure to also check the number of feedbacks that person has and the percentage of positives...ReAD THEM!! I'm an ebay addict...but just see if that person has sold similar items before...and their feedback about it.. Honestly...I don't know if I'd spend that much on somone with less than 50 feedbacks...the higher and more towards 100% the better!!
Continue to check out disney.com...even call the number and tell them your budget and see what they can do. Check out google...search deals...travelocity.com and such. I'm the most budget minded person..so I'm feelin ya!!
Good Luck!!!

In just about all cases you will do better pricing things out yourself.

You didn't say which part of VA you are in. SouthWest airlines is offering fares, out of BWI, as low as $75, incl tax, per person, each way. A price like that, on Southwest or another airline, would put your travel costs at about $450.00

Since it is your first time there, I'd go for seven days. Four days has never been enough time to do close to everything. The least expensive time to go, would be late August. Courtyard by Marriott, in the Disney Village Hotel Plaza, is offering a $20.03 or $39.00 rate for that time. I don't know if it is sold out yet. You could also try the All-Stars. Their rate hovers around $70 for that time of year. Both of these choices keep you under $1500.00 for six nights.

If you only planned on doing Disney, both those hotels offer transportation to the parks. If not, I'm guessing a rental car would be about $200, gas included. Others would know better than me. We haven't rented a car in such a long time.

Five day PHP passes, two adult, one child would run about $630, thru Connections, (that is not an exact figure), which are the least expensive I've found, and they include two Pluses so you could go to a water park or Pleasure Island too.

This is a little over $1500, but, since you wouldn't mind renting a car, you could also choose an off-site hotel that was less than $70 per night and get some savings that way to brind the cost closer to $1500 for seven nights.

There are lots of places online to compare and check prices. People here always have given me the best advice too. Your budget is very doable. Have fun planning!

Daisimae

I'm doing a 4 night vacation at the begining of August with 2 adults and a 4 yr old and am planning to spend $1000 INCLUDING food. Airfare was (as described above) from BWI. Rental car w/codes was $123. Hotel was $29 per night on priceline. All told, about $700. I figure another $300 for food and extras and we're all set. You can definately do this if you plan it right.

Just my 2 cents, I say go for the four days. It sounds like you vacation frequently, once you go, you'll be back. Stay at the All Stars, you won't need a car. Don't try to do it all. You won't even come close. I've gone a lot on a budget and had a great time every time. I'd wait til the end of Aug. Crowds are less. Southwest has great specials! Do the ice cream social at Epcot for a character meal. It's cheap and your daughter will love it. Buy your tickets in advance on the disney web site, they're cheaper. I wouldn't go commando style. Do the things your daughter will enjoy and savor every minute. Have a great trip. You'll find lots of great info on these boards. There are lots of free things to do for a newbie on a budget.

Thanks everyone for the help!! I live in Danville, VA. We usually fly out of Raleigh/Durham because the rates are almost always cheaper. I'm on my way now to check out Southwest Airlines, Marriot and Connections.

When you check SWA, be sure to check their Tuesday web specials. We can usually catch flights from Norfolk for $39-$44 each way - non-stop to Orlando. The best part about flying with SWA is that if you find the flight cheaper, they will adjust your cost.
