I just sold an item. There were two people bidding on it. I have another one of the same item that just sold. Can I email the other person and let them know I have another one and that I can sell it to them for their last highest bid? Hope this makes sense? If so how do I do it?

Thanks for your help

You can, through ebay - second chance. Do it through ebay, otherwise you can't do it. Just go to your auction and look for second chance. good luck!

I thought for a second chance offer the item originally bid on has to be the item your selling, not an identical item listed in another auction. Thought it had to do with giving a fair chance to the public to try and win it. Glad it was mentioned here, I sat on a few items under similar circumstances.
Now I know :goodvibes

Thanks

Not sure if its legal since I don't sell on Ebay but I bought 2 Christmas gifts that exact way this year. I was happy to recieve the offers since I hate waiting for auctions to end!

Yep, it's completely fine to do a second chance offer... plus you'll save listing fees on the second item!

Isnt second chance offer when your first bidder doesnt come through and you then can offer to the other bidders? I clicked on second chance offer and it came up with this:

Sending a Second Chance Offer is free but if your item sells, you will be charged a Final Value Fee based on a percentage of the final sale price.
You can send a Second Chance Offer for up to 60 days after the listing ends.
Before making a Second Chance Offer, try and work things out with your winning bidder first.
If your original listing was an eBay Giving Works listing, the donation preferences that you specified will apply to this Second Chance Offer

thanks

You can sell a second item to another bidder, here's the eBay info:

A Second Chance Offer lets you to make an offer to a non-winning bidder under certain conditions. The offer contains a Buy It Now price equal to the non-winning bidder's bid amount.

You can send Second Chance Offers immediately after the listing ends, and for 60 days after the listing ends. There are also conditions for Second Chance Offers for Reserve Price Auctions and Unpaid Items.

You can make a Second Chance Offer to a non-winning bidder when:

* The winning bidder does not pay you, or your Reserve Price has not been met.

Note: If sending due to an Unpaid Item, be sure that you have tried to resolve the issue with the original buyer before sending a Second Chance Offer to another bidder.

*There is at least one non-winning bidder who accepts Second Chance Offers.
*You have duplicate items for sale, and want to offer them to non-winning bidders in a single-item auction.

I found the info here:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/second_chance_offer.html

We do second chances all the time. A second chance is for a couple reasons. One, that your first bidder backed out, or two, that you have a duplicate item. If you go to the original auction, it will offer you a chance to do a second chance offering on the top third of the auction.

For myself, if someone gets in contact with me and wants to buy an item I do not have listed on eBay, I have no problem with that, and do it through personal email (not ebays "ask the seller question"). eBay has no rights to items I haven't listed, in spite of what they would like to think IMO. If the person hasn't gotten in touch with you, and you offer them a chance at the item, they can report you and you can be suspended..so in this case the Second Chance offering sounds like the best avenue.

Take a look at the third reason for sending second chances:

You can make a Second Chance Offer to a non-winning bidder when:

The winning bidder does not pay you, or your Reserve Price has not been met.
Note: If sending due to an Unpaid Item, be sure that you have tried to resolve the issue with the original buyer before sending a Second Chance Offer to another bidder.

There is at least one non-winning bidder whoaccepts Second Chance Offers.

You have duplicate items for sale, and want to offer them to non-winning bidders in a single-item auction.
