I'm ebaying an item that as I was packing it for shipping I realized has a chip in it. I have one person that has bid on it so far and I am sending them an email with pictures of the chip. If they decide they do not want the item, can a bid be withdrawn? Reason being, if they really don't want it I don't want to pay the ebay fees associated with a "sold" item.

Thanks!

Yes, you could end the auction early, but I think you'd still have to pay the listing fee, just not the final credit fee.

Bidders can retract their bid or sellers can cancel it. If YOU cancel the bid, there won't be a note on their feedback that they retracted a bid. All retracted bids by bidders are recorded, canceled bids by sellers are not.

If you do decide to end the auction early, be sure to cancel all bids. Otherwise you will pay final fees.

You may be surprised that the bidder may still want the item, especially it if is vintage and the chip isn't too bad. If you keep the auction open and the bid is not canceled or retracted, you will need to "Add to my item's Description" to mention the chip, in case you have last minute bidders.

Good luck.
