ANyone ever sold anything worth a nice chunk of change?

I keep getting questions that say things like:

I think you should take action at what is being said about your listing:
http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/XXX... login, which I have not done. What gives?

Most of the time, they're trolling for personal information to contact you or send you a virus.

You can receive bonafide questions/notes from other Ebayers through your ebay account online.

I have purchased a car, several kitchen appliances and other high-dollar value items on Ebay with good experiences. The most expensive thing I sold was a go-cart for about $500. I don't remember getting trolling notes.

When I went to open your second link, my Norton anti-virus would not let me open it and said it was a fradulant page:confused3 not sure if that helps

Alright - thanks so much!!!

I thought so, but it seems so legit! :lmao:

I get those all the time and I haven't sold anything on eBay in over two years. They are spoof or phishing emails. Forward them to ebay.

I agree.

Hey, Cat, I emailed you since I cannot PM you. Did you get it?

Dont reply or open those. You can safely view any of that I believe from going directly to your ebay account. I have sold an antique snare drum for about $2000 on ebay with no problems.

Yep they are wanting your password. Any real message from ebay will be on your Myebay page.

I have gotten similar emails when selling some items for a couple thousand dollars. They were, indeed, spoof emails.

Any emails you get regarding eBay will also be in your My Messages folder on your My eBay page. If you see something that concerns you, go there and open it from the eBay page. If it's not there, then disregard it.

I wanna let you guys know - I never opened them, or logged in - HOWEVER, they did show up in my MYeBAY page..... just a heads up for anyone else out there.

Totally weird and seriously legit looking. Thankfully Im not a nin-come-poop (how *do* you spell nin-come-poop, anyways????)

And the great news.... My auction ended at a whopping $1628!!! WHOOOP WHOOOP WHOOOP!

Not too shabby for something we picked up for $25 at a Garage Sale! :woohoo:

Wow - Congrats on your auction!!! :cheer2:

As for the weird emails - I just forward them all to spoof@ebay.com - let them sort if out!

Just curious - what was the item? I am a big time yard saler and hear of people buying stuff and putting it on ebay but have never really tried it. What kinds of things do you look for?

I never even read any of the emails I get that say paypal or ebay. I am not selling anything now and haven't for a while, but I get about 5 spoofs a day. Anything that is on your my eBay page is legit though. If I ever question an email, I go there and see what's official.

Congrats on your great garage sale find! And congrats on your wedding too!:thumbsup2 Sounds like you've had a pretty great week!:goodvibes

I sold my dh's coin collection about 2 years ago and it seemed like I was getting more spam than ever and some "phishing" emails. :headache: I got 2 that presented themselves as being angry for a transaction and yet I knew I never sold anything at that time. They are getting sneakier.

Yes, what is the item you sold? That is a wonderful profit!

Item sold - a 1959 Tube Amp. :confused3

I would'a passed it on by, Jim-Hubby is the one who has an eye for stuff like that.

Just because an email sez(and looks like) it is from EBAY, does not really mean that it is.

My mom gets those EBAY questions and notices all the time, and she does not have an EBAY account.
