ebay bid retracting

I had someone bid on an item and then send me an email asking me to retract his bid.

I thought bid retractions were done on the end of the bidder....am I wrong?

If so, how do I even go about it?

Thanks. Yeah, this seems to indicat that HE needs to retract, not me.

No! It still has 4 more days. HOnestly, I have looked at sold items for this particular item and it will go for more than he bid, unless he put in a high bid that isn't showing. I don't think he needs to stress about it.

I have had a couple of bids retracted over the years. Most recently was a DS game that I had bid on for DD and then DH went out and bought it for her without my knowledge. I emailed the seller and politley explained the situation and he/she retracted my bid for me. I have never retracted my own bids though....the seller retracted them for me.

You can cancel the bid if you want to - I don't know if bid retractions count against bidders or not, but I had this happen last year. A bidder requested I cancel her bid - I told her she needed to do it, but I guess either she couldn't figure out how or whatever...

Anyway, I ended up cancelling the bid for her...just search "cancel bid" in the seller section.

I don't know if it still does, but in the past if you as a bidder retracted your bid, that would show in your feedback profile. Perhaps having the seller cancel your bid does not??
