Please look at this ebay auction.

This man has an interesting concept
rent a studio, at BOARDWALK villas, not many points required to do this
and then rent the exact same week a 3 bedroom at marriott grande vista

I think he uses the studio to access disney transportation and location in day, but then use the Marriott GRANDE VISTA size,etc
to sleep at night

IF others have thoughts, about this concept? Positive and negative please share with me?

If you think. I am totally wrong about this theory? Please correct me.

I don't see the logic in it! If I remember correctly Marriott Grande Vista is not all that far away, and anyone with a Park Hopper Pass can use almost all of the WDW transportation. Maybe if you want to put family in both the Boardwalk and Marriott and Vacation together??? But If I'm vacation with other family members I think I'd want to be at the same resort with them.

I don't know, am I missing something?

I know it may sound crazy but I really do see some logic in this - especially for a good price. As the mother of 3 little boys, I will say that having a place right on site like this to go back to for naps and a little bit of "Disney magic" would be wonderfully convenient - a resting place for midday breaks without having to drive offsite. But the space to spread out at the end of a day is very important to us (it's one of the biggest reasons we bought into DVC). I absolutely would only consider it though for an exceptionally good price. I'm not sure if his current price is a good one or not? Anyway, there have been times before we bought DVC that we considered double booking ourselves like this, particularly for nights that we were going to be at the parks very late (MVMCP for instance) and wanted to be able to just walk over to the Contemporary and crash at midnight rather than driving home to our villa offsite. Some people are willing to pay a great deal for convenience, I guess it's all in what works for you and your family situation, don't you think?

You could have the space of that 3 bedroom villa offsite while enjoying the studio during the day AND you have the added benefit of Extra Magic Hour too! Pretty clever if you ask me

I think this topic is interesting too, KANSAS. You know, in some ways, if you could get it for the current bid price it wouldn't really be a huge waste of money...Here is my thinking.
If that studio is a preferred view, which it likely is, then it would cost you 1340.00 to rent it from a DVC member at the going rate of 10.00 a point. That would mean you would be getting the 3-bedroom villa for 650.00 for the week. If you use that studio at the Boardwalk during the middle part of the day to have lunch in your room and store some afternoon drinks and snacks you could save a fair amount of money. (A family of 5 would be very squished in a studio if you stayed there for the whole time and paying for lunch every day because your villa is 8 miles away from the parks and driving back there isn't very practical, could cost you upwards of 350.00 over the course of a week - or 200.00 if you only eat at counter restaurants.) And in order to find a room that truly accommodates a family of 5 you have to go deluxe. If you are talking renting from a DVC member, you will need 3500.00 for that same week in a 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk. I haven't checked on-site deluxe hotel rates for that time period lately but I am guessing it is in the neighborhood of 2000.00 at least and you get a measly amount of space. (Not to mention, a bunch of cranky kids who never got a midday break, ate junk food for lunch, and now must sleep in the same room - 2 of them sharing a bed and poor mom and dad have to huddle out on the balcony or hang out in the bathroom so as not to wake the poor darlings up ) We also get an incredible amount done due to Extra Magic Hour with the kids and then leave midday when the crowds become too much for them. Am I making some amount of sense here? I wonder if anyone will take him up on this interesting scenario? Maybe Dean could comment on the cost of a week in a 3-bedroom at Marriott Grande Vista? Wouldn't that alone cost someone close to 2000.00?

We have a timeshare in Orlando that is very close to WDW. It is always 2 BR and as nice as DVC. When we are there fpr a week, we pick a WDW resort to stay at for a couple of nights on points, AT THE SAME TIME! The time we spend on site isn't usually even the time we go to the parks -- it's just to enjoy the World. We are actually planning future trips that will be a whole week both places at the same time, when our children are older. It makes sense to me!

I doublebook. This next trip I have a condo off site for Sunday and a 2 bedroom at OKW on the same Sunday. This way I do not have to be concerned about my 2 bedroom being ready early, 4 o'clock will be fine because I may not use it anyway. More than likely this time I will use the 2 bedroom at OKW and leave the other condo I rented empty on Sunday night. The last time I did this is when we stayed at GF in the concierge section and had a one bedroom rented at OKW. That time we stayed at GF and left the OKW one bedroom unused on Sunday. WHY! may be the question--because I can not stand waiting for a room to be ready at 4 o'clock. So I just rent two different rooms. At the Hilton--they have a check out policy where you can stay later and pay an extra charge. I used that once for the same reason. I will not be left without a room, holding on to a card that says call at 4 PM. I have other things that I do similar but this one has to do with this post in a small way also. There are people out there like me that are willing to pay for convience.

Kansas--the only time the bookings cross for me is on Sunday, only one day, this trip we will be renting the condo off site for 3 nights and OKW for 5 nights with Sunday overlapping. For me I am a nut about check in. It is a very big deal to me to have a room ready. I have other things in my life that are like that also. At the original condo, off campus, I will not be checking in until the evening hours so there is no problem there. I have other wierd things in my life that make my life somewhat different, this is just one of them.

Pa, I think overlapping like that is a very good idea. I hate being homeless for an afternoon with tired boys who have had 8 hours worth of travel by noon. (Last time, we dragged them out of bed at 4am - won't do that again!) And as far as "weird things in your life..." I bet that's what makes you more interesting!

I understand the concept but in this situation it doesn't seem to be reasonable unless you have a very large group and some will stay on (BW) and others off property (GV). One could likely rent out both easier and for more than doing the two together. As I noted above, it is likely that both are exchanges. While done all the time, it's against II's policy and the person could lose their membership. It's also possible that II could find out and cancel it after you're paid the seller. They seem to find out of times when it's on ebay.

I didn't know that...You cannot rent out your timeshare week? Or is that only if it is an exchange? II confuses me a little bit...

You can rent what you own. Both RCI and II have it in their membership policies that you cannot rent an exchange. Both tend to enforce it but I'm sure there's a lot goes on they don't know about. You can transfer an exchange to another with a guest certificate just not technically for financial gains.

Most if not the rentals you see on the Rent/trade board that are for a full week, cheaper than you'd expect and say they can't change the dates; are exchanges through II. Personally I don't have a problem with it just want members to know what to expect.
