Ebay Advice on selling chdrn's clothes.

Crazy Mom,
I have sold on Ebay for years....don't worry, your items will probrbaly get bids. In my experience most items don't get bids until the last day or so. When a bidder searches....usually the items getting ready to end come up first....since yours still has five days it won't be seen a great deal until the end. I bet it will get bids at the end. GOOD LUCK!

Your low feedback and high shipping would scare me off. I wouldn't be willing to pay $13.00 for shipping of used clothes. Can you ship a less expensive way and lower that? My DD's clothes sell well on Ebay. I post them in lots small enough to ship for 2.00 to 3.00 (usually 2 outfits or 3 or 4 shorts). I also start the used clothes auctions at 2.00 to 3.00. Good Luck!

Don't worry, your clothes are nice and will sell. The price is fine. However, I sold a lot of that size and it doesn't seem like it cost me as much to ship as your price is coming up. I agree with some of the other posters that maybe you want to drop your shipping price. I'd double check the weight and see if you can drop it. My last auction sat at the original bid of $4.99 until the last 20 seconds (no exageration) at which time the bid jumped up to $24.99. I also agree about keeping your descriptions much more brief. It will save you a lot of time on your next listing.

Your lot has 13 items (I counted 11 outfits and one jacket, guess I missed the shoes).

I'm confused!
From other auctions I've looked at the lots were counted in pieces. An "outfit" with shorts and shirt counted as 2 "pieces" or "items". Is this incorrect?

:wave2:

I just added 2 other shipping options- UPS Ground and USPS Parcel Post.
Thanks to all who gave this recommendation!

I think next time I'll take more pics of individual outfits and since the viewers will be able to see more detail I'll not feel the need to describe every detail! :rotfl:

I REALLY appreciated everyone who took the time here to help me out. I'd be lost on ebay without all of the caring (and helpful) people here on the Budget Board! You guys are GREAT!

I think you pretty much have your bases covered. You may want to list in another category besides Outfits and Sets - maybe Mixed Items, but it's not necessary.

Maybe if you have more items to list you could mention combined shipping is available, but looks like this is your only auction right now.

GL!

quite a number of people who only ship Priority bc of the free confirmation. This prevents buyers from saying they never rec'd the package when in fact they did. What are your thoughts on this?

I just recently started using the free confirmation. I sent over 1,000 items without it and no packages were ever lost (or claimed to be lost). I usually use priority for the confirmation & free boxes, but if I have something heavy, I'll offer parcel post as an option.

Looks good to me, but I'm not an ebay expert. :) If you'll deliver to Hamilton (mercer cty), I'd bid! My DD needs that stuff for our WDW trip. I agree that the shipping can make ebay clothes expensive when compared to yard sales.

Best of luck! If you don't get a bid, PM me. :teeth:

To clarify piece count - typically if it can be worn separately, it counts as a piece -
-shorts and shirt - that's two pieces
-pair of shoes - sorry , you can't wear just one - so that counts as one piece
-dress with matching bloomers/diaper cover - counts as one cos you can't wear the bloomers by themselves, kwim?

Now some may count every single piece, but buyers usually feel cheated or deceived by that.

A great place to get tips on selling kids clothes is the children's clothing boutique board - it's a discussion board of new and old sellers and they can give lots of helpful advice - (warning, it's kinda addictive - sorta like this board! LOL)

You can put delivery confirmation on a parcel post package for 13 cents - just download the free Shipping Assistant software from USPS.com and you can print your own shipping labels. Still have to put on postage separately, but at least it brings down the price of delivery confirmation!

Even if your auction is 2 1/2 pounds, parcel post shipping across the U.S. is only $6.32. Free delivery confirmation if you download the us postal service's shipping assistant and print the label yourself (then cut it out, and tape it on, being careful not to tape over the barcode). Or just charge for the delivery confirmation tje $.45, upping this to $6.77. Maybe throw $.50 or $1.00 in there to cover shipping supplies but with already pricey shipping for not-so-pricey used items (by Ebay standards, of course!) paying nearly $10 for Parcel Post completely turns me away.

JMO!

Ya, see, that's one of my fears-- being seen (by potential buyers) as deceptive, when it's really just a matter of not knowing exactly how things are done on ebay. I glad I asked--thanks for clarifying! :)
