How often are there sales or coupon codes? I'd like to get some packing cubes to try out before going on a longer trip but I'm not sure how long I should wait to see if i can get them on sale.

There is almost always sales going on. Sign up to be an ebags insider to get their emails. I seem to get discount emails practically every other day. The good ones are usually 25% or 30% plus free shipping over a certain amount.

Packing cubes are awesome and we've used them for several years now for many trips. I find the medium to be most useful, followed by the small.

Ebags is constantly running a sale! I wait for 40%off one item I have a free shop runner account so shipping is always free.

I like the small the best then the medium!

I can fit an entire days outfit in a small unless I am going to wear Levi's. If I am wearing regular pants or jeans it fits beautifully in a small.

Once you have used the Tetris method of packing, you can never go back!

I bought about a dozen last year for our WDW trip. They were AWESOME and I would never pack again without them. However, they are very over-priced and very hard to find a deal on. The best luck I had was stalking Amazon because they often mark down the weird colors that don't sell well. Needless to say, I saved a few bucks buying orange cubes in large sized, camo in medium, and black in small. That would drive some ppl crazy I know, but I didn't mind.

Thank you for all the tips and advice. Seems like people prefer the small and medium. Should I avoid buying one of the three piece sets then? How about the "slim" styles? Any experience with those?

I would buy the set of three as my first purchase. And then practice pack. You may love a different combination than me!

The large work well for fleece and sweatshirts. If you are packing for a man as well as yourself, that might bump you up in sizes also.

I have a set of the slim, I don't think they are that great, but I drive to my vacation destinations so I have more space in my luggage.

A slim cube works well for an additional place to keep underwear and socks, above what goes in my daily cube. For changing after swimming, or if i shower and change for dinner. A slim also works for a couple of swimsuits and a cover up.

I bought 2 large cubes and they work best for rolled up jeans, jean shorts, jackets, bulky sweatshirts, and anything requiring more room. However, I bought 6 medium and are the best size for sorted packing.

Love my packing cubes, and I used to be a die-hard 2 gallon ziplock packer. I bought the sets of 6, letting each person in the family choose a different color. Cannot say enough how much I like this...we tend to pack everyone in 2 rolling suitcases (family of 5) so when we get there I just hand the colored cubes to each person to put in their drawer.

Once in a while I wish I had a couple additional smaller cubes (and may order those still) but for the most part the set of 6 works great. If it's a short trip we usually don't use the largest bags, but I am a light packer and we always have a laundry option in the villa at wdw. The set of 6 includes 3 identical foot long bags.

Footlong bags:
I now keep bathing suits permanently packed in one of these for each person. Mine alone holds bathing suit, cover up, wrap, flipflops. The kids keep their pool flip flops, suits, googles, cover-up tshirt in theirs. We are either at the beach or wdw more or less every month, so having these ready to go at all times makes life easier. It's also great if you end your wdw trip with a pool day after check-out (or before room is ready on check-in). Grab a bag and change in the bathroom.

I also use a foot long bag for pajamas. My third one stores my running gear...bottom, running shirt, running bra, running socks, timer. compression sleevers all in one neat package. Another use for the footlong bag....staying one night in a hotel on the way to somewhere. You can put pj's and a change of clothes for the next day in one bag and avoid dragging the entire suitcases into the hotel (toiletries go in a tote in this case). My youngest ds uses his footlong bag to store a few car toys in, which can then be easily carried into a hotel to paly with.

From the set of 3...the smalles handles undies, socks, bras. The middle size easily stores a 6-8 tops rolled up, leaving the large one for pants, shorts, jacket, hat, whatever the case may be.

Honestly, you can't have too many of these bags!

When you order you get credits back from the company to be used on a future order. I placed my first order then needed a couple of e-bags for dh (who was already using the Eagle Creek bags for travel)...that order ended up being free with my prior credits.

Enjoy!

PS. My brilliant friend started using packing cubes to organize her sons' packs for campouts. I may try this next. Not sure my son ever changes his clothes during campouts, so it may be a waste though!

if you are near an ikea i would also suggest these knock off versions. i have long been using mesh bags for packing but didn't want to shell out the $ for packing cubes. found two of these in the as is section (the largest pieces) so thought i would give it a go. I came home washed them and love them. I can pack for an entire weekend with one or used two for a 4 day trip but had extra room. So far I have used them over a dozen times and they are holding up. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30235115/

We have two sets of the 3 size sets and use them all anytime we pack our suitcases. I use one large cube for my clothes and the other large cube for Dh's clothes. I use the medium cubes for Dd's clothes and the small cubes for misc items (phone chargers, cords, travel slippers). It's nice that everyone has their own bag and it's really nice to open a suitcase and not have to dig through everything. We also have 2 sets of their shoe bags - love them too!

Check out retailmenot . com for a 25% off code. Free shipping is being offered for orders over $75.

I bought mine through ebags all on sale. They seem to always be sending me 30% off codes on one item and free shipping. I also link through ebates which gets me an additional 12% off. (free to join and i have been using them for years)

Each of us has a set of 3 multi sized. Both boys have another set of 3 each in the medium. DH has a second set of 3 in large. I have a second set of 3 of the narrow ones. DH is 6'3 so having more of the larger ones made more sense. I like having more of the narrower ones for things like bras and underwear. We also have another random set of small sized ones I found once on clearance at marshals. I tend to use those more for things like cables and non liquid toiletries.

We each have our own color and I even matched colors to my boys' suitcases. It just makes it easier, especially on my DH. On trips where we need less luggage, we share and it is so much easier to pull out the cubes then to try and sort clothing out in the hotel room.

We used to use zip locks but they eventually ripped. Also I could never tell whose clothing was whose without really having to look.

I never noticed Ikea had these. Thanks, I may need to grab just a couple moer the next time I am there ;)

Also love them - I agree 25% is okay 30% is better. I suggest you get the 6 piece set. It is a great starter set in that it adds 3 of the slim packing cubes which are perfect for smaller stuff. That gives you 6 to start with and you can figure out which ones you like best.

We used them on our last Disney cruise and it made unpacking and repacking really easy.

Our family of five were using the Eagle Creek travel pouches until my friend introduced me to the Flight 001 Spacepaks. I just love these travel bags! They come in a couple of different sizes and models.

They are larger and deeper than the largest EC cube, but the best function about these are the dual zippered compartments. One side keeps your "Clean" clothes, while the other side will house your dirty ones.

After you take out your clean clothes to wear for the day, you flip the bag over to place your dirty clothes in the "Laundry" zippered compartment, so this bag keeps all your clothes nicely folded and organized at all times. I just throw the bags in the washing machine when we get home.

They are pricey but I feel it will keep our family traveling lighter, thus saving us money on checked bagged fees (we check two bags for our family of five (3 kids 7 and under). This system saves me a lot of time when we are packing to return home, I just place the bags in the luggage. :thumbsup2

We have a bunch of Eagle Creek and eBags packing cubes since we use LLBean rolling duffles (the stuff would go all over the place otherwise), but I also save clear zippered packing that sheets and small blankets come in. I call it my poor-man's packing cubes. :upsidedow They come in handy for packing small things like swimsuits. I also use them to pack laundry supplies.

Was just at IKEA, can't believe I missed the packing cubes someone else mentioned!

I ordered the six piece set and can't wait for it to arrive. I LOVE the idea to use the bags from sheet sets! I can't stand throwing those out.

I just bought a slim set after reading about them here..pretty good price on Amazon..$18 something and free shipping with Prime.

Do you pack one outfit per day per person in each cube? How exactly do these work best? My kids are little (1 and 2) and a boy and a girl. My original plan was to use zilpocks and possibly even do one outfit for each of them in a baggie (so 2 outfits per baggie. But, I like the idea of reusable a lot better!

Dh and I each have a large cube. I pack all of my clothes in mine, all of Dh's clothes in his. DD gets 2 medium bags for her clothes. The cubes aren't small enough to pack only 1 outfit in. Though you could use the small cubes to pack only a couple of kids outfits in.
