Staying at WL with DS & DD. We wont have a car. If we don't want to eat at the resort itself, what restaurant is good and easily accessible. We really dont want to wait an hour for a bus and have to transfer etc. Any suggestions?:confused3

Hmmmm....I am assuming you will be eating in the parks? There are many restaurants in Epcot that are nice and counter service and some sit down ones in the Magic Kingdom, also, restaurants at DTD and AK, never mind resort hopping for restaurants.

The only thing with trying to get to one resort from another is that you have to go to a park to get to another resort...hence the bus taking aspect. You can boat it to MK from WL... You could take a bus to downtown Disney and have a meal there.. there are many choices: Raglan Road, Portabello Yacht Club to mention a few.

We have stayed at WL several times. Of course they have AP which is an upscale restaurant. Never eaten there before but many DISers have given good reviews. Also, there is WCC. Try it at least once. Its a hoot. Then there is RF. Its good for a quick bite.

You can catch the boat to FW and eat at Trails End. The breakfast we think is the best meal there. All the meals are comfort food. The boat will also take you to Contemporary which has Chef Mickeys along with other restaurants. Sorry, cant remember the others right now. Or catch monorail at Contemporary to Poly and try Ohanas or Kona Cafe. Also, GF is on the same monorail line. These are a few that come to mind.

Hope this helps.

The boat you will be using to get to the Magic Kingdom will make stops at the Contemporary Resort and the Fort Wilderness Campground. To get to the campground you may have to stop and the Magic Kingdom first. Other options are available around the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can easily access the Polynesian Resort or the Grand Floridian Resort via boat or monorail. It will take some time to arrive but if you plan accordingly you should have no trouble. The Polynesian Resort has Kona Cafe for casual dining as well as Ohana's. The Grand Floridian has several restaurants including 1900 Park Fare which is a buffet and the Grand Floridian Cafe. Although you may have to endure some extended travel time you won't have to wait for a bus twice to get to another resort.

For any park dining, the Magic Kingdom would be your best bet because it is the closest to your resort. The boat is quicker and arrives more frequently than a bus would to Epcot.

Be sure to check out Whispering Canyon while you're at WL, it's a lot of fun to eat their!

Have fun on your trip!

You have all the resort resturants, we love Kona! All the resturants in the MK, although we are not much for Buffett and many of the TS in the MK are buffett.
Take the bus or Monorail to Epcot for many, many choices. There are just so many choices that are a short ride away...

Just to clarify, there are two separate boat routes that service the WL. One is the large boats that make the WL-MK-FT Wilderness loop. The other is the small resort launch that makes the WL-CR-Ft Wilderness loop. There are no boats that stop at both the MK and the CR.

As for non-park food options from the WL, you obviously have the restaurants at the Lodge (Wispering Canyon is fun and has decent food), you can head over to Ft. Wilderness and eat at Trails End (I've heard ok things but have never been), or you can make your way over to the resorts on the Seven Seas Lagoon. We've done this a few times and it's fun. You can catch the resort launch to the CR. There you have California Grill, Chef Mickey's, Concourse Steakhouse, or the Food and Fun Center for quick eats. From the CR you can hop the monorail to get to the Poly (Kona, Ohana's or Captain Cook's) or the GF (1900 Park Fare, GF Cafe, Citrico's, or Narcoossees). Another option for getting the the other MK resorts to dine is to take the large MK launch from the WL to the MK, and from there hop the monorail. This works particularly well if you have a strollers that have, or eventually will have, sleeping children in them as you'd have to fold strollers on the small resort launch. Just for a frame of reference, if you wanted to get to the GF from the WL taking the boats and the monorails you would need to give yourself an hour. You aren't going far and the modes of transportation are fun, but you still have to wait for a boat or monorail, and they have to make their way from point a to point b on a fixed route.

As for our recommendations out of all those monorail options, 1900 Park Fare has a great buffet (both breakfast and dinner). Kona is good. Plan a dinner at the GF on a night when there are MK fireworks, finish up dinner before they start, and catch a great view of the show from the GF docks. Better yet, eat at Narcossees (a tad expensive) and you might be able to watch from your table.
