I pick them up once a week and take them out to lunch. I have been told, by many of their classmates and teachers, what a cool mom I am! I like to take them out for one on one lunches, too.
I have eaten in school with them, but they like to get away for a little bit.
Not an option here(no cafeteria and the kids eat in their classrooms), but whenever my kids want to come home for lunch, I go and get them-sometimes we go out, sometimes we just hang around at home for the hour.
Yes, and they loved it! I would go in maybe once a month when they were in elementary school. Occasionally I'd take my daughter out for fast food because her recess was right after lunch, so there wasn't a big hurry to get her back.
When they were in elementary school they would BEG us to come eat with them (and we did often), in middle school they would DIE if we came and ate with them, now that they are in high school we don't want to go eat with them .

We aren't allowed to do it anymore. There has been a population explosion in my small town and they can't build schools fast enough. If all the parents showed up at once, it would be insane. For school functions, half the school goes one night and the other half the next .
They plan lunch with parents day for each grade every year, so we all get at least one day.
I used to go every Friday. My girls loved it and looked forward to it. Two years ago they moved to a new school and while it is still allowed, we never have felt very welsomed so I have a hard time going as often and my kids miss it. I try to go at least once a month still. The other hard thing is that my kids lunches are over an hour apart between when one leaves and one comes to lucnh so that makes it harder too.
But whenever they ask, I do go. I fight though the lousy feeling there and focus on the good feeling that my kids still want me around.
NONE of this applies to my DD15. I went when she was little too but only though elementary school.
Yes I do and we all enjoy it. When we eat with our kids at school we get to go outside to the picnic tables where it is quiet and enjoy our time together.
I used to in Elementary school. Nothing more precious than seeing your kids face when they see you (okay it wasn't really me, it was the bag of McDonald's they were eyeing) walk through the door.
I also used to go in and read weekly. My kids loved it, but I am sure there are some who wouldn't want there parents in school.
I used to when they were in primary school and elementary school, K-5; but now they're in high school and middle school, so no way do they want us there now.
Is this really the norm? Never heard of going to eat with you child at lunch. And the only time I took them out for lunch would be if they have an appointment then. And that is very rare. All appointments are made after school.
My mom never did when we were little either. This was time to socialize with the kids at school. Only time I ate lunch with them is if I was on a field trip with them.
Our kids only get about 20 mins. too and eat inside the class. Then they go outside.
My grade 7 son is allowed home for lunch, at first he thought that was cool , now he stays to be with friends.
