I have a question....If you want to have a character meal. Lets just say for instance my daughters want to have breakfast with cinderella at the castle in Magic Kingdom, but we only have tickets to Epcott and Animal Kingdom will they let you in for the dinner, or do you have to be admitted to the park? We are only going for Epcott and Magic Kingdom. I also noticed that some of the dinner shows are at hotels. You don't have to stay at that hotel to attend the dinner do you? Thanks in advance for any info. -Michelle

You will need to have admission to the parks to eat at any of the restaraunts. You don't have to be staying at one of the hotels to eat at their restaraunt. Park tickets are for any of the parks - someone correct me if I'm wrong but you can't buy tickets to a certain park - if you have 2 day park tickets you can go to any of the 4 parks.

So if you want to eat at the castle you need to have park admission for Magic Kingdom, if you want to eat at Coral Reef you have to have park admission for Epcot

Hope that helps

naynay80 has it right. You must have a park admission in order to dine at any restaurant located in that park. If you wish to eat at one of the resort restaurants, you do not have to be staying at that resort (or any WDW resort) in order to dine.

I'm somewhat confused as to the OP's reference to having tickets to just EPCOT and AK. Unless they are special passes, all MYW base tickets entitle the owner to admission to any single park of their choice for the day. If you do not have the hopping addon, you cannot spend the morning at one park and "hop" to a different park in the evening of the same day, even if it is just to eat at that park.

OP....once a year we stay offsite in our timeshare and may only visit Epcot and/or the MK during our stay(we stay onsite once a year also and it 's Disney 24 hours/day...YAY!)...anyway...I make an ADR for a character meal at one of the resorts. Chef Mickeys(at the Contemporary) for breakfast is one we do alot.

When you're talking about your tickets to Epcot and AK, maybe you mean that you have two day tickets and these are your park choices?? Otherwise, you can use those tickets to visit whatever park you want. You WILL have to have the parkhopper option to visit multiple parks in one day. If not, whatever park you enter that day is the park you must stick with.

I with the rest of the gang...not sure how you only have tickets for Epcot and AK?
I may be wrong but I was thinking there was a princess dinner in Epcot too...maybe that would help. Thinking Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Something else you may want to consider...add on the park hopper option. Then if you decide you wanted to do CRT at MK, you would have that option!

Disney doesn't sell tickets to individual parks, they sell tickets that will get you into ANY of their parks. However, unless you pay extra for something called the "park hopper" feature, you can't enter two different Disney theme parks in the same day.

For example, let's say you bought a 2-day ticket and did NOT buy the park hopper feature. That means if you go to Magic Kingdom in the morning, then you CAN'T go to Epcot that same evening. Without the park hopper feature, you can only enter one park per day. But you can enter and exit and re-enter that same one park as many times that day as you'd like.

Anyone can eat at any hotel they want. In fact, I've never heard of a hotel in the USA that doesn't allow non-guests into their restaurants.

You can add the hopper option to your tickets anytime, even after you arrive. This will allow you to visit as many of the parks in one day as you need to. Its not very expensive either.

Or you may opt to dine with characters at one of the resorts or in one of the parks you ARE visiting. You do not need to stay at a particular resort to dine there. :)

Michelle:

The answer to the first part of your question is:
You must have a ticket to enter the park to go to a restuarant. They will not let you in to eat without a ticket.

The answer to your second question is:
You do not have to stay at a resort to eat at a resort restaurant. There are many fine restaurants at the resorts. And the resorts themselves are beautifully themed.

Here is a list of character meals at resorts:

Breakfast
1900 Park Faire (Grand Floridian) - Buffet, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Eeyore

Cape May Cafe (Beach Club) - Buffet, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale

Chef Mickey's (Contemporary) - Buffet, Chef Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Chef Goofy

Ohana Character Breakfast (Polynesian) - Family Style - Lilo and Stitch, Mickey, Pluto

Dinner
1900 Park Faire "Cinderella's Gala Feast" (Grand Floridian) - Buffet, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Suzy, Perla, Fairy Godmother

Chef Mickey's (Contemporary) - Buffet, Chef Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Chef Goofy

If your daughter wants to dine specifically with princesses, and you only plan on visiting EPCOT and AK, then you have 2 options that I can think of off the top of my head.
1. Akershus banquet hall in epcot, you will meet many princesses but if memory serves cinderella does not attend this event
2. 1900 park faire, where you will see Cinderella, prince chariming, the fairy godmother and Perla and Suzy the mice. This is at the Grand Floridian

I am wondering, which do u think is a better character breakfast Chef Mickey's or Pooh and Friends at the Crystal Palace I believe it is? Now I am cutting it close, and I decided after booking my birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare that I am also going to try and book a character birthday breakfast and cannot decide which one to try and get ADR's to 1st. I am cutting it real close, I am going in less than a month, but I am at least going to try.

Depends on the characters you wish to see...
I would pick CP...for a couple of different reasons. Staying onsite I have to change over buses at the theme park to get to the Contempory resort. This is pretty busy in the mornings. So going to CP...I am already in the park for the day. Also...I love the service I get at CP. And if you can make your ADR's for early in the morning you get to walk down Main Street almost alone! Chef Mickey's is not bad...just not my fav!

personally, I would not add a park hopper just to go to a meal---I would go to a hotel meal, instead. You can see Cinderella at the Grand Floridian or Mickey at Chef Mickey's at Contemporary for dinner. Epcot would have Mickey at THE LAND and princesses at Norway (princess dinner).

Any time you have dinner reservations for a restaurant in one of the parks you will need to have a ticket to get in to that park.

You do not have to stay at one of the hotels to have dinner there. As for driving there and parking at the hotel there may be a few to park, but I am not 100% sure..

Just an FYI...Epcot has a Princess meal in Norway. It is at the Akershus Banquet Hall...We did it this past January and my girls loved it! I also thought the food was pretty good. I especially like the cold buffet. The princesses that were there was Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, and I can not remember if I was missing someone.

Enoy you trip!!:goodvibes
