Eating Outside Disney

For all the years we've been going to Disney, we've never eaten outside the bubble. We always say we're going to try but never do. Mostly because we don't know where to go, what places to try (if anything is any good) and it seems once we're in that bubble...we think it's a hassle to go. So, does anyone leave the Disney bubble to eat? I think there is supposed to be a main road with a lot of restaurants? We really don't like chain restaurants like Applebee's. Prefer local places, things you won't find anywhere else.

We did last trip b/c we were staying at a villa & it was just easier for us to eat in the hotel with my 2 yr old. But, we just stuck to chain restaurants like outback. We never eat chain restaurants at home, but it was just easier there.

I usually google different types of local restaurants (such as Italian/Greek/Chinese/Pizza/etc.) and see which ones have the best reviews and menus that interest us. The last time I was in WDW, we ate at The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and Abbot's Frozen Custard. The meal was delicious and significantly less expensive than WDW. It was about 10-15 minutes away from BWV.

Bahama Breeze and Logan's Roadhouse are two of our favorites down there.

The DIS team always raves about 4 Rivers BBQ. we keep saying we're going to try that on a trip, but never get to it. Not sure it's very convenient. Giordano's has several locations not too far from WDW. we've gotten pizza from them several times now. Last trip, 1 deep dish pizza gave us meals for 3 days, over Thanksgiving.
If you're near the Animal Kingdom area, very easy to take Sherberth to 192, but most of those places are chains (Olive Garden, Bonefish Grill, Panera,) But the Trackers just did a vlog near the Margaritaville resort area, and it looked like they had several nice looking places/shops/restaurants there. It's also very close to Sherberth/192.
